Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2026: In the JoSAA counselling 2026, registered candidates have to upload various documents to get verified for the JoSAA counselling process. The JoSAA document verification will be held online as per the schedule, and candidates will be required to upload documents under their JoSAA 2026 login at josaa.nic.in.

In the process of online JoSAA document verification, candidates have to address the queries raised by the document verification officers. The document verification officer may raise certain queries online under the respective login of the candidates against the documents uploaded. These queries must be addressed by the deadline. If the queries remain unanswered, then the candidates shall not be allowed to take part in the further counselling process, and they will lose their seats. The candidates need to check the JoSAA login for queries regularly during the online JoSAA document verification process.

Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2026 for Admission to NIT+ System

Check below the list of documents to be uploaded by candidates for admission to NIT+ System bu candidates who have ranks in JEE Main 2026. These documents will be needed at the time of JoSAA 2026 registration and online reporting.

1. Class X Mark Sheet/Certificate or Aadhaar Card or Birth Certificate (for Date of Birth)
2. Class XII Mark Sheet and Certificate (Qualifying Examination)
3. JEE Main 2026 admit card
4. Certificate of category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS), if applicable, as per Government of India format, available on the JoSAA website, issued by the competent authority.
5. Original Certificate for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD), if applicable, issued by the competent authority.
6. Original Certificate for persons having less than 40% disability and having difficulty in writing, if applicable
7. Crossed Bank Cheque copy / Image of Passbook with bank account details
8. Medical Certificate
9. OCI certificate/ PIO card, if applicable
10. Passport/Citizenship certificate, if applicable

Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2026 for Admission to IITs

Check below the list of documents to be uploaded for admission to IITs by candidates with ranks in JEE Advanced 2026 exam. These documents will be needed at the time of JoSAA 2026 registration and online reporting.

1. Class X Mark Sheet/Certificate or Aadhaar Card or Birth Certificate (for date of birth)
2. Class XII Mark Sheet (Qualifying Examination)
3. Certificate of category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS), if applicable
4. Original Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), if applicable
5. Original Certificate for persons having less than 40% disability and having difficulty in writing, if applicable 
6. Crossed Bank Cheque copy / Image of Passbook with bank account details

Certificate Formats Required for JoSAA Counselling 2026

During the JoSAA counselling process, candidates might have to upload various certificates in the format prescribed by the authorities. We have provided the formats of such certificates below that the candidates can download, fill and then upload as required.

JoSAA 2026 Document Validity and Verification

While document verification, if there is any mismatch between the document uploaded earlier by the candidate [JEE (Main) 2026 registration site for NIT+System and JEE (Advanced) 2026 registration site for IITs] and the document uploaded by the candidate on the JoSAA portal, and the same is found to be due to willful forgery/act of cheating, the offer of admission will be withdrawn and the candidate shall be debarred from further rounds of seat allocation. Thus, the candidate will forfeit eligibility for admission to any of the institutes through JoSAA 2026. The decision of JoSAA on this issue shall be final and binding

It is the responsibility of the candidate to keep the valid certificate or document for JoSAA 2026 counselling ready and upload the same at the time of application/registration. All the certificates/documents will be verified at the time of online reporting and thereafter physically, at the time of reporting at the admitting Institute.

What Happens if Documents Are Found Invalid in JoSAA Counselling?

For candidates whose category document is found to be invalid OR who do not produce a (valid) category document [as per the format given on the JoSAA web portal], the category tag will be changed (for seat allocation) as shown below. 

[For NIT + System only] The following rules will be applied if there is an error in the state code of eligibility:

• The state code of eligibility will be corrected in the JoSAA 2026 database.
• Retention/cancellation of seats will be as determined by the following table:
