Q:   Who conducts the JoSAA counselling?
A:

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is coducted at national level. It is established by Mininistry of Education for admission to the IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

Q:   Am I eligible to appear for JEE Advanced next year if I do not join the seat allocated via JoSAA Counselling?
A:

If you do not complete the JoSAA reporting process, you will be eligible for appearing in JEE (Advanced) in the subsequent year provided you meet all other eligibility requirements.

Q:   What is JoSAA counselling cutoff?
A:

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) publishes cutoffs as opening and closing ranks after each round of seat allotment.

The opening rank is the raank at which admisison to a particuloar course and college starts in a JoSAA round. The closing rank indicates the last rank at which the admission in a JoSAA round closed for a college and course.

The JoSAA opening and closing rank will vary in all rounds based on based on various categories of the candidates.

JoSAA 2025 Document Validity and Verification

During the process of document verification, if there is any mismatch between the document uploaded earlier by the candidate [JEE (Main) 2025 registration site for NIT+System and JEE (Advanced) 2025 registration site for IITs] and the document uploaded by the candidate on the JoSAA portal, and the same is found to be due to willful forgery/act of cheating, the offer of admission will be withdrawn and the candidate shall be debarred from further rounds of seat allocation. Thus, the candidate will forfeit eligibility for admission to any of the institutes through JoSAA 2025. The decision of JoSAA on this issue shall be final and binding

It is the responsibility of the candidate to keep the valid certificate or document ready and upload the same at the time of application/registration. All the certificates/documents will be verified at the time of online reporting and thereafter physically, at the time of reporting at the admitting Institute.

What Happens if Documents Are Found Invalid in JoSAA Counselling?

For candidates whose category document is found to be invalid OR who do not produce a (valid) category document [as per the format given on the JoSAA web portal], the category tag will be changed (for seat allocation) as shown below.

Q:   Can I revert to my previous seat after being allocated a higher-preference seat in JoSAA counselling?
A:

NO. Once you are allocated a seat of higher preference based on your float/slide option, your accepted seat from the earlier JoSAA counselling round will be automatically cancelled and you cannot get the previously allotted seat.

Q:   How can I keep my currently allocated seat and opt out of further rounds of JoSAA counselling?
A:

If you are satisfied with the allotted seat and do not wish to participate in further rounds of JoSAA seat allocation, you need to choose the option “Freeze” while accepting the seat and complete all the three steps of online reporting process.

Q:   I got 64.6% in class 12. I am from the SC category. Can I appear for JoSSA counselling?
A:

No, to be eligible for admission to NIT+ system or to the IITs candidates must have passed and secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65%.

However, if the candidate is within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination, they become eligible for admission.
