JoSAA Seat Allotment 2021 result for round 3 has been announced on November 6 on the official website. JoSAA seat allotment will be done based on the ranks obtained by students in the JEE Main/Advanced, and the choice filled by the candidates.

JoSAA Seat Allotment 2021 (Mock Rounds)

The authority opened the JoSAA 2021 registration and choice filling window on October 16. JoSAA mock seat allotment-1 and 2 were conducted on October 22 and 24 respectively. The mock seat allotment was done as per the candidates’ choices entered till a day before. Students are advised to choose as many programmes and institutes as possible as per their ranks. Candidates must lock their choices within the final date i.e. October 25, 2021. If they fail to lock the choices, their choices will be locked automatically as per the last saved preferences. No candidate will be allowed to edit their choices after the last date of the choice filling process. JoSAA 2021 seat allotment will be conducted as per the students’ categories:

JoSAA Seat Allotment 2021

The authority will conduct six rounds of JoSAA seat allotment on the basis of students’ ranks, category, selected preferences and availability of seats. Candidates will be able to download the provisional seat allotment letter and an e-challan to deposit the seat acceptance fee after the allotment of seats. Students should follow the below-given steps to download the provisional seat allotment letter:

Step-1: Visit the official website of JoSAA 2021

Step-2: Click on the seat allotment link

Step-3: Login using the required credentials

Step-4: Click on the “Submit” button

Step-5: After successful login, JoSAA 2021 seat allotment letter (provisional) will be displayed

Step-6: Download and take multiple printouts of the allotment letter

What after JoSAA Seat Allotment 2021?

After the allotment of seats, candidates have to opt for any one of the following options:

Freeze: Candidates satisfied with the allotted seats and do not wish to participate in the further rounds of JoSAA counselling can choose this option.

Float: Candidates satisfied with the seat but would like to be considered for other institutes in further rounds of JoSAA seat allotment can choose this option.

Slide: Candidate accepts the allotted seat but is also open for admission into a higher preferred course in the same institute can choose this option.

Candidates who accept the seat will have to pay the seat acceptance fee using the e-challan or SBI Net Banking. The amount deposited as a seat acceptance fee will be adjusted against the admission fee of the allotted institute.

After accepting a seat, Students must report for document verification with original documents and two sets of photocopies on a specified date and time at the designated reporting centre or institute. In case of failure to accept the seat or report on time, candidates will not be considered for admission.

JoSAA Seat Withdrawal

The authority will allow candidates to withdraw their seats after accepting but it can be done only before the last round of seat allotment of JoSAA 2021. In such case, the seat acceptance fee will be refunded to the candidates after deducting the processing charges of Rs. 1,500. Steps to withdraw a seat are given below:

  • Visit the JoSAA portal
  • Enter the account details to which the seat acceptance fee shall be refunded
  • Upload the image of a cancelled cheque of the same account in JPG format
  • Download the withdrawal request letter
  • After downloading the letter, candidates and his/her parents have to sign the withdrawal request letter and report at a reporting centre to vacate the seat.

The NIT Srinagar BTech seat allotment is first done through the JoSAA counseling. The allotment of seats is based on a candidate's JEE Mains score. However, if after the seat allotment, there are still some vacant seats for the BTech course, they are filled through the CSAB counseling.
