Studying and understanding JEE Advanced Pattern completely could make the work easier to prepare for the exam. The pattern of JEE Advanced is discussed below:
- JEE Advanced is a Computer-based exam (CBT). There are two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) in JEE Advanced
- Both the papers are compulsory and the duration of each paper is three hours
- There are objective type questions including numerical questions and multiple-choice or options type questions
- Both papers have 3 sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics
- As the no. of questions is not fixed, hence, total marks could not be defined
Marking scheme of JEE Advanced for each paper is as follows:
Paper – 1:
| Question Type |
Marks Allotted |
Negative Marks |
|---|---|---|
| 1 correct answer |
+3 |

| 1 or more correct answer |

Paper – 2:

Preparation Strategy
As mentioned above, JEE Advanced is one of the difficult entrance exams.
- To secure high marks, students should learn and understand the basic concepts of each subject and work on enhancing the numerical and analytical ability.
- Allot at least 8 to 10 hours daily for preparation.
- Avoid studying all the three subjects in a day; this would lead to confusion Instead, try to cover only 2 subjects in a day as per the topics..
- Practise each topic regularly to score well in all the subjects.
- Attempt as many mock tests as and try to complete these within the stipulated time. For example, if the exam time is 9.00 am to 12.00 pm, then try to give a mock test in that particular time; this would help in managing the time effectively and reducing stress level.

You will not be eligible for admission as preparatory ranks are not considered under round 1. Since you have already qualified to appear for JEE (Advanced), all you need to do is meet the second criterion and apply for round 2, which will be only conducted if seats from round 1 remain vacant.
