The Common Law Admission Test 2026 will be held on December 7, 2025. CLAT exam date is just months away but to achieve the desired results, candidates must dedicate themselves to the preparation for the CLAT exam.

Overview of CLAT 2026 Syllabus & Exam Pattern  

The CLAT question paper will contain total 120 comprehension-based multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Each question will carry one mark and there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Candidates will have to complete the exam in two hours. Sections from which questions will be asked in the CLAT exam include:

• Start with the easier topics first, the ones in which you feel more confident, thereby, gradually moving towards the tougher topics. Doing this will keep your morale for the exam high.
• Focus on studying at least three sections a day. Allot time to a particular section as per your potential of understanding a topic. However, make sure to study one CLAT section for minimum two hours.

CLAT Preparation Strategy for Month 1 (next 10-15 days): Once candidates have completed the entire CLAT syllabus, the remaining 10-15 days should be devoted towards thorough revision of the topics already studied.

CLAT Preparation Strategy for Month 2: Regular practice by attempting previous years’ CLAT question papers, sample papers and mock tests is the key to success in the exam. Practice as much as you can as it will not only give you an actual exam-like feel but will also boost your confidence. Some of the points to keep in mind while attempting CLAT question papers and mock tests include:

• Solve the question papers in a stipulated period of two hours only and beyond that. Doing this will help you attain the right speed and accuracy for the exam.
• Do not get complacent after solving the question paper, as it is also extremely important to analyse it well. After you have analysed the paper, make a mental or written note of your strong and weak areas for the exam. Thereafter, devote more time towards improving your weaker subjects/topics for the exam. However, do not completely ignore your stronger subjects/topics. Devote some time of the day to study your stronger subjects as well.

• For English section of the CLAT exam, focus on improving your reading skills. Read the editorial section of the newspaper daily and check out the meanings of new words to improve your vocabulary

• It is the most important section with highest weightage in the CLAT exam
• With enough practice, you will realise that questions from this section are of a certain type only and thus it is quite possible to master it in two months duration  
• Read CLAT books such as Universal’s Guide to CLAT LLB Entrance Examination and Pearson’s Guide to the CLAT to crack this section

Logical Reasoning

• Regular practice is the key to success in this section
• Some of the important CLAT topics to prepare are Blood Relations, Syllogism, Statements and Assumptions, Puzzle Tests, Arguments & Conclusions and Logical Sequences

Quantitative Techniques

• Similar to Logical Reasoning, CLAT Mathematics can also be aced through regular and consistent practice
