Q. Did you expect AIR 4 in AILET 2024 and AIR 86 in CLAT 2024 Exam?
A. After appearing for the CLAT 2024 examination and assessing my performance, I was quite confident of getting under AIR 100, though AIR 86 still came as a surprise. On the other hand, after taking the AILET examination, I was quite apprehensive as I wasn’t very sure of some options that I chose. I decided to just check my results when it came and didn’t see the answer key. So upon seeing AIR 4 in the result, I was quite doubtful and had to recheck to confirm. It took some time to accept that it was real.
Q. Did the change in CLAT/ AILET Exam Pattern 2024 hamper your preparation?
A. No, not at all. There was no fundamental change in the structure or the content of the paper. Sure they decreased the number of questions in CLAT and gave 30 minutes more in AILET but I believe that was an advantage.
Q. Which section did you feel was more challenging? And took more time in the exam?
A. In both examinations, I felt that the logical reasoning section was trickier and demanded a more thorough and attentive reading. Moreover, the quantitative techniques section in CLAT was quite time taking and had a lot of calculations.
Q. How did you manage time between the Class 12th Board Exam and Entrance Preparation?
A. I started my entrance preparation in April this year after appearing for my Class 12th examinations, so I had ample amount of time to prepare without the additional school work.
Q. Do you feel coaching plays a very important part in clearing the law Entrance Exam?
A. While CLAT and AILET unlike many other conventional entrance exams don’t test what you have read in a book, one surely needs direction and support while preparing for it which is where coaching and mentors help a lot. I find myself quite lucky to have had Rajneesh sir and the entire Do-Zen team of faculties who guided me throughout.
Q. What was your study plan?
A. I didn’t have a very rigid study plan and tried to be quite flexible according to my needs. I devoted at least an hour daily to quantitative techniques which helped me with speed, accuracy and unconventional, easier methods. Regularly attempting logical reasoning questions- both analytical and verbal made me very comfortable with all the common tricks and traps. However, I devoted a lot of time to GK and current affairs since I was comparatively free.
Q. Do you think NCERT books are sufficient for law entrance exam Preparation?
A. I feel NCERT books play a rather minuscule part in law entrance exam preparation as the exam is not at all focused on what you read in a book. It focuses on your comprehension ability i.e. do you understand what you read, which I believe develops through extensive and diversified reading. But I do think that they help with quantitative techniques as the questions are based upon concepts generally taught till class 10th.
Q. How did you deal with your strengths and weaknesses while preparing for the entrance Exam?
A. It was a gradual process of first identifying my strengths and weaknesses through mock tests and interactions with my mentor and then I focused on those areas. It took time but I was consistent and saw improvement over time. I always analysed to see why was I weak in this particular section and where I was going wrong and then worked on it.
Q. Was Law always your choice as a career?
A. No, I aspire to be a diplomat, and an IFS officer but have always been highly interested in law and society. I find the intricate links between the two very interesting. In my opinion, laws shape a society and are themselves shaped by the society, they have the power to make huge differences. So I decided to study law as it is something I feel passionate about and enjoy a lot.
Q. Any tips for students who are planning to take the exam next year?
A. I think many people must have already told them this but I would still advise them to start reading, take mocks but more importantly analyse them well and be consistent in their efforts.

Getting 79 in AILET is kind of a fair score, but it depends on how hard the exam was that year. Sometimes the cutoff goes high, sometimes low. For general category, top ranks usually need around 85 or more. Still, your AILET 2026 score of 79 might stand close if the paper was tough overall.

Candidates seeking admission into prominent law colleges in India are well aware of the fact that they have to appear and qualify the entrance exams accepted by the colleges. In India, the National Law Universities (NLUs) are among the top-tiered law colleges to study law and, at present, the total number of NLUs in India is 24. Admission to NLU Delhi is through the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET). If you compare AILET to CLAT, the AILET Exam is much tougher then the latter.
