You can prepare for it in the last couple of months with the help of year books as most of the questions are asked from Static GK.

Q:   How can I master Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation topics of CMAT?
A:

Cracking Logical Reasoning section of CMAT is all about how well and how quickly you understand the puzzles and patterns. To master this section of CMAT exam, sample questions for practice and sectional mock tests for CMAT are the best resource. You should start practicing Logical Reasoning questions early on in the preparation cycle. Pay attention to the topics from which Logical Reasoning questions are asked in CMAT. Prepare for those type of questions only. For Data Interpretation section of CMAT. You should be well versed with reading tables, graphs and charts correctly. For quick calculation, you should strengthen basic mathematical calculations like multiplication, division, square, square roots, cube, cube roots, etc. This section is all about observation and ability to break down information into pieces, so you need to practice a wide range of data interpretation questions.

Important CMAT Quant Formula: Number Systems

Type of CMAT questions appearing from Number Systems include calculation of squares and cubes, calculating n numbers, and more. Some important formula from CMAT Number System are as follows:

Sr No. CMAT Number System Formula
1 Sum for firsty n natural numbers = n(n + 1)/2
2 Sum of first n odd numbers = n²
3 Sum of squares of first n natural numbers = n (n + 1) (2n + 1) / 6
4 Sum of first n even numbers = n (n + 1)
5 Sum of cubes of first n natural numbers = (n(n + 1)/ 2)²
6 (a – b)² = (a² + b² – 2ab)
7 (a + b)² = (a² + b² + 2ab)
8 (a + b)(a – b) = (a² – b²)
9 (a³ – b³) = (a – b)(a² + ab + b²)
10 (a³ + b³) = (a + b)(a² – ab + b²)
11 (a³ + b³ + c³ – 3abc) = (a + b + c)(a² + b² + c² – ab – bc – ac)
12 When a + b + c = 0, then a³ + b³ + c³ = 3abc
13

(a + b)n = an + (nC1)an-1 b + (nC2)an-2 b² + … + (nCn-1)abn-1 + bn

Important CMAT Quant Formula: Profit, Loss, & Discount

One must ensure memorising following formula to answer questions from Profit, Loss, and Discount in CMAT exam:

Sr No CMAT P&L Formula
1 P = SP - CP
2 L = CP - SP
3 P% = (P/CP) * 100
4 L% = (L/CP) * 100
5 In case of loss, SP = (100 + P%) / 100*CP
6 In case of profit, SP = (100 - L%) / 100*CP
7 In case of profit, CP = 100 / (100 + P%) * SP
8 D =  MP - SP
9 In case of loss, CP = 100 / (100 + L%) * SP
10 D% = (D/MP) * 100

In the above table,

  • Profit is termed as P
  • Selling Price is termed as SP
  • Cost Price is termed as CP
  • Loss is termed as L
  • Discount is termed as D
  • Marked Price is termed as MP

Q:   How many questions should I solve to get a good score in CMAT?
A:

Since every section of CMAT has 20 questions in total, solving 15 to 18 questions in each section with 80 percent accuracy is considered a good attempt in CMAT, and it can ensure a good percentile in the exam. In the GK section, about 10 to 12 correct attempts will be enough. Out of 100 questions, candidates must try to solve about 70 to 75 questions to achieve a 99 percentile. However, candidates must aim to solve a higher number of questions with maximum accuracy and minimize negative marking. To be able to achieve this target, candidates have to prepare for the CMAT in a disciplined manner. Candidates must set aside about three months to complete the CMAT syllabus, as they have to study five subjects and their numerous topics. If they have appeared for CAT, XAT, and IIFT exams, then they can complete the CMAT syllabus in one month as well. However, it is advised that candidates spend at least three months on CMAT syllabus for complete preparation.

Important CMAT Quant Formula: Averages

Some important formula from Averages in CMAT Quant formula sheet are as follows:

Sr No. CMAT Quant Formula for Averages
1 Average = Sum of all observations/Number of observations
2

Weightage Average = (K1A+ K2A+ ..... + KnA1n)/ (K1 + K2 + ..... + Kn)

In the above formula,

  • K1, K..... denotes weights
  • A1, A..... denotes respective averages
3 Average of the first n natural numbers = n+1/2
4 Average of the first n even numbers = n+1
5 Average of first n odd numbers = n

Important CMAT Quant Formula: Simple & Compound Interest

Some important formulas to learn for CMAT Simple and Compound Interest include:

Sr No. CMAT Quant Formula for SI
1 SI = P*R*T/100
2

Amount = P + SI

In cases where SI is not given,

Amount = P (1 + RT/100)

3

R = (SI * 100)/ (P*T)

4

T = (SI * 100)/ (P*R)

Sr No.

CMAT Quant Formula for CI

5

Amount = P (1+R/100)T

6

CI = A - P

In cases where A is not available,

CI = P [(1|R/100)T - 1]

In the above table,

  • SI is Simple Interest
  • CI is Compound Interest
  • P indicates principal amount
  • R indicates rate of interest
  • T indicates time (in years)

Important CMAT Quant Formula: Time & Work

Check CMAT important formula for Time and Work from Quant below:

Sr No. CMAT Quant Formula for Time and Work
1 Rate of work = 1/Time Taken
2 Work Done = Time taken * Rate of work
3 Time taken = 1/Rate of work
4 Efficiency = Work/Time
5 Total work = Time * Efficiency

CMAT Preparation Tips for Quant & DI
