Before the scaling of scores, GMAC evaluates each candidate's performance based on the actual number of correct answers and incorrect responses by the candidates. NMAT reports the scaled score to candidates and institutions.

Q:   Is there any common admission criteria for all NMAT participating colleges?
A:

NMAT scores are accepted for admission at more than 50 b-schools. There is no common admission policy for all NMAT participating colleges. All participating colleges for NMAT will set its own eligibility conditions, cutoff scores, academic requirements, work experience preference, and selection process.

Q:   Will my best NMAT score out of three attempts considered for admission?
A:

Candidates can take NMAT up to three times during one admission session. Candidates are allowed to register for NMAT and schedule an exam attempt. Some of the NMAT colleges, such as NMIMS will only accept the NMAT score from first exam attempt. NMAT Selection Process

Securing an NMAT score of 190-210 is only the first step. Candidates meeting the NMAT cutoffs are shortlisted for further selection rounds. There is no centralised selection process for admissions via NMAT scores. Candidates have to fill the admission forms of the desired NMAT colleges by visiting the institute's website. All NMAT colleges have distinct selection criteria with different parameters. Some of the common selection parameters for MBA colleges include group discussion, written ability test, and personal interview.

  • Group Discussion (GD) / Case Discussion (CD): Most of the MBA colleges have a GD round in the selection process. Candidates are usually given a topic for discussion in a group.
  • Written Ability Test (WAT): Several NMAT participating colleges will have a Written Ability Test Written This stage measures written communication skills. Candidates are given a topic and a strict time limit (usually up to 20 minutes) to formulate a written response.
  • Personal Interview (PI): A direct discussion with the college's admissions team. Questions generally focus on the candidate's career goals, profile, and knowledge of current affairs.

The maximum scaled score a candidate can achieve in the NMAT exam is 360 marks. Since there are 108 questions and each correct answer carries three marks, the total score ranges between 36 and 360.

The NMAT exam consists of three distinct sections. These sections are Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. Each of these three sections has equal weightage and contains exactly 36 questions for candidates to solve.
