NMAT 2026 Exam Day Checklist: Graduate Management Admission Council conducts the NMAT exam for admission to MBA colleges in India and abroad. NMAT exam is conducted at Pearson VUE-affiliated centres in CBT mode. On the exam day, candidates must follow the guidelines and protocols to avoid difficulties while taking the exam. NMAT 2026 exam day checklist includes candidates to know about their test centre, travel time, exam slot, things to carry, prohibited items and more. Candidates must also have an NMAT exam day strategy in place for better overall performance.

NMAT 2026 Exam Day Guideline-Dos
- NMAT 2026 Admit Card: After successfully registering for the test, candidates can download the NMAT admit card from the official website. They have to check details such as registration number, name, time of the test, venue details of the test centre and other information mentioned on the NMAT 2026 admit card and if they are error-free. It is important because, on the test day, even a slight error in the admit card can lead to a huge problem. In case of errors, test takers should ensure they resolve them beforehand. Keep the NMAT hall ticket in the bag the night before exam day to avoid the last-minute rush.
- Documents for Photo Identification: On the test day, NMAT-takers have to carry documents that contain a signature and photograph in semblance with the photograph and signature affixed in the admit card. One should not carry photo identity proof, which does not contain candidates' signature in it. One may think of carrying an Aadhaar Card and a Voter ID card on the test day. One needs to rethink this, as both of these authorised photo IDs do not contain the candidate’s signature. Thus, candidates must carry a PAN Card and either an Aadhaar Card or a voter ID card on the exam day.
- Check Test Centre Location Beforehand: Before starting for the exam venue, test takers should check the test centre location on Google Maps. This not only helps one to estimate the time from residence to test centre but at the same time, know the status of traffic en route.
- Avoid Carrying Electronic Gadgets: Candidates should not carry any electronic gadgets like calculators, Fitbits, Smartwatches, smartphones, or Bluetooth devices to the exam centre. In case one carries them out of a sheer mistake, they will be confiscated right at the entry point of the exam hall.
- Check the Seating Arrangement: Before entering the exam hall, candidates should check the seating arrangement and the computer allotted against one’s roll number. There should not be any scribbles on the NMAT 2026 Admit Card. The invigilators can question such an act. One can even ask for the attendance sheet to mark their attendance right before the start of the exam.
- Keep Personal Belongings Inside Locker: Candidates have to store their bags, mobile phones or other personal belongings in the designated locker at the test centre.
These pointers mentioned above will help candidates to remain calm and do the exam properly. On the exam day, candidates are advised to stay focused to comprehend the questions and answer them appropriately.
NMAT Exam Day Checklist- Don’ts
- Do not sign on the Admit Card Before Entering the Centre: Candidates must ensure that the NMAT 2026 admit card is free from any scribbling. They should not sign the admit card with a pen. Digital signature affixed to the hall ticket is enough proof of evidence that it is issued against an applicant’s name.
- Avoid Unfair Practices: Test takers must refrain from asking any questions to any fellow candidates giving the NMAT test inside the exam centre. In case of any doubt, they should raise their hand and ask the exam invigilator to clear their doubts. They should not immediately start answering the questions once the computer is allotted and should wait for the invigilators to complete explaining the entire proceedings of the exam.
- Do Not Carry Rough Sheets Inside Exam Centre: The exam authorities will provide rough sheets to the candidates once the test begins, which the candidates must submit upon completing the exam before leaving the examination hall.
- Candidate Acquaintances Not Allowed Inside the Centre: Candidates' parents, guardians or friends will not be allowed to enter the exam centre. Anyone accompanying the candidates must maintain a safe distance from other candidates and leave once the candidates go inside the centre.
NMAT Exam Day Guidelines: Documents to Carry
These are the documents required to be carried on the exam day:
- Confirmation email: Candidates can carry a hard copy or show the confirmation email on the mobile
- NMAT admit card: Candidates must download a fresh copy of their NMAT admit card for each attempt. A hard copy of the same is to be presented as and when asked by the GMAC officials.
- Valid photo ID proof: One valid original and non-expired Photo ID (containing candidate's name and photo) must be presented. The valid documents to be carried at the NMAT exam centre include:
- Passport issued by the Government of India
- PAN Card issued by the Government of India
- Voter's ID Card
- UID/Aadhaar Card
NMAT 2026 Exam Day Guidelines: Post Check-In Instructions
As soon as the candidate is inside the exam hall, the invigilator will take the examinee to the allocated computer system.
- Candidates will find a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) presented on the screen. To begin with the test, candidates need to accept the NDA by clicking 'Yes, I Accept'
- In case the candidate selects 'No, I do not accept ', he/she will not be able to take the exam on that day. In such cases, candidates will lose the exam attempt and the exam fee will be forfeited.
- Candidates need to select a preferred section order before the test begins.
- Candidates are required to choose a selection order before the exam commences.
- Once the test begins, candidates cannot change the order of the sections.
- Candidates will have to complete answering questions in one section as per the sectional time limit.
- The section responses will be submitted automatically after the time for each section expires.

Graduate Management Admission Council conducts the NMAT exam within a particular exam timeline. Every year, NMAT exam is usually scheduled to be conducted in the last quarter of a calendar year. Candidates are able to take the exam until December. Candidates can appear for the NMAT exam three times during the testing window. Soon after taking the first exam attempt, candidates can fill the retake registration form to apply for the NMAT retake. However, one can schedule a retake of the NMAT exam 15 days after the first take.

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) conducts NMAT exam in an online mode. Online NMAT exam is conducted from Pearson VUE centres situated across India. Candidates need to appear at the chosen test centre to appear for the computer based NMAT exam. At the NMAT exam centre, each candidate is allotted a computer system where he/she has to login to take the test. Once the candidate logs in to the computer system, the responses will be recorded against the test taker ID. Further, this test taker ID will be helpful while evaluating performance of indicidual test takers.
Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) releases the NMAT exam dates every year. GMAC conducts the NMAT exam once every year within a specific testing window. Candidates can appear for the NMAT exam three times during this testing window. The NMAT exam dates can be found on the official exam website. NMAT exam is conducted by GMAC three times during one MBA admission session. GMAC facilitates the three exam takes within a testing window. The test window for NMAT ranges around 45 days. Once the candidate has a valid score, he/she can compete the retake registration process and schedule any date that is 15 days after the previous attempt.
Candidates can choose to appear for NMAT up to three times on chosen dates within the test window specified by GMAC. Of all the three test scores, best exam score is sent to the NMAT participating colleges, chosen by the applicant while filling the form.
Yes. Candidates can choose an exam date to appear for NMAT while scheduling the exam. GMAC provides the facility of convinient slot with NMAT to help candidates prepare well and controlling the exam anxiety. Candidates who fill and submit the NMAT form are allowed to schedule the exam after paying the application fee. While choosing an exam slot to appear for NMAT, candidates have to choose an exam centre followed by choosing the available slot in a particular centre. Candidates cannot chose an exam date after the scheduling window has been closed.
NMAT scheduling refers to booking slot for the test. In case of any change in the scheduled date, candidates can choose NMAT rescheduling window and choose a new date.
The total duration of the NMAT exam is 120 minutes. NMAY has a sectional time limit with 28 minutes for Language Skills, 40 minutes for Logical Reasoning, and 52 minutes for the Quantitative Skills section.
