Aayushi Pandey shares last-minute tips to help MAT aspirants further ease the journey.
You must have prepared well for the upcoming management exams, including CAT, XAT, CMAT and SNAP. So, appearing for MAT 2020 on February 16 would not be a tough trail for you. However, some last-minute tips can help further ease the journey for you. Here are some such tips for you:
- Just a day before the exam, do not study any new topics or concepts. Revise what you have already studied.
- Twenty-four hours before the exam, do not appear for a mock test. Just figure out from your previous mock test performance, sections you are finding difficulty in. This will help you avoid those areas if a similar situation appears during an exam. Use your time judiciously, attempt all the question and then solve those questions which you have not attempted earlier.
- Since in MAT you can easily move across sections, so first try to solve those areas about which you are enough confident.
- For achieving 95-98 percentile in MAT exam, it is enough to attempt 60-70% of total questions correctly. But keep this in mind, that in each section you have attempted enough right questions because many colleges, do consider sectional cut-off in their final evaluation.
- The difficulty of MAT Exam is easy to moderate, so if you have rigorously prepared for an exam like CAT, XAT, CMAT, then you do not have to worry much about the difficulty level.
- Self-evaluation is important. Analyse your mistakes from previous exams and the mock test that you have given earlier and focus on maximising your score by avoiding any kind of mistake you have done in your previous exams.
- If you are not sure about any particular section, try to attempt individual mock test of that particular area, so you will be confident about the section during the exam.
- Make sure that you have gone through enough previous years’ MAT papers to get the exact idea of what you are going to get in the exam. Since there will be negative marking in the exam, attempt questions accordingly.
- Do not lose your calm and composure during the exam. It will affect your performance during the exam.

MAT is overall an easy exam, but if you compare the sections, usually the Quantitative Aptitude is considered tougher than rest of the four sections, due to calculation intensive questions.

All the MAT sections have same weightage, i.e. 30 questions and 30 marks. So candidates must keep in mind to prepare each section properly and poor performance in one section can affect overall score.

The percentile needed for admission would depend on the category you belong to. JAGSoM accepts various entrance examinations for admission to the MBA/PGDM course, like CAT, XAT, MAT, etc.
As per the estimated XAT cutoff in 2026, a percentile of 70 would be good enough to secure a chance at admission
