Last month of preparation often gives shivers to many students who are preparing for an entrance exam. Student should ensure that they have the right course material, they know the complete examination structure and have the right approach before appearing for any competitive exam.
Many of the Andhra Pradesh state candidates are familiar with Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test. This examination is conducted once a year. This will be conducted by Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, in support of APSCHE for admissions in MBA/MCA programs. AP ICET scores are accepted by government and private institutes/colleges across the state of Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, since AP ICET is a state-wide entrance test, hence, the competition might be less as compared to nationwide examinations like CAT.

If you are preparing for any competitive examinations like AP ICET, the last few days play a major role in your preparation. When I was preparing for AP ICET, I too felt the same anxiety and tension during the last month of preparation.
Correct Study Material
During the last month of preparation, you have to do smart work as you have limited time in hand. We should utilize these days in a perfect manner to achieve a high score.
Most of the candidates feel that selecting correct study material for any entrance examinations like AP ICET is a challenge as various choices for preparation like important books, sample papers, etc. are available. In my opinion, for preparation we have to get the right resources, these resources will surely help us with our preparation in upcoming examinations. Moreover, I used to study from standard books only so I would suggest you should also do the same. CAT material also proved useful for me in clarifying doubts, so you can also go for that. For verbal ability, I preferred “CAT Verbal Ability” by Arun Sharma. Some of the standard materials for the preparation of APICET are mentioned below:
- Quantitative Aptitude by R. S. Agarwal
- ICET Model Papers by Vijeta Competition, Vikram Series
- ICET Solved Papers by Kiran Prakash
- Logical Reasoning by Arun Sharma
- Verbal Ability by R. S. Agarwal or Arun Sharma
- Objective Arithmetic by S. Chand
- MBA Complete Books by Chandresh Agarwal
- Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency by Arihant Publications
- Non-verbal Reasoning by R. S. Agarwal
.
Examination Structure
The most important thing is to know about the examination structure or pattern. For writing any entrance examination like AP ICET, the foremost thing we should be aware of is the pattern of the examination.
- The frequency of examination is only once a year
- It’s an Online Exam
- Number of sections in the examination are 3
- Examination duration is 150 minutes
- Total number of questions in the examination is 200
- The question format is only MCQs
- Medium of the examination is English
- Total marks in the examination is 200
- No negative marking in the examination
- Each question carries only 1 mark, i.e., for every correct response, you will get 1 mark
- Courses offered with this examination are MBA and MCA
- The main purpose of this examination is to give admissions in various top colleges, government universities & private institutions in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
- The three sections of this examination are -
- Analytical Ability
- Mathematical Ability
- Communication Ability
Focus Points
I always preferred smart work than hard work as I always believed that it helps achieve a great score for any entrance examinations in less number of days. For smart work, we should give preference to focus points like high scoring topics. During last month preparation, we should keep our focus only on repeated topics, sample papers, important and most expected questions. We can improve our solving skills by practising previous years’ papers. Keep your focus on covering all the topics from Analytical Ability and Mathematical Ability as these sections carry 75 marks each. This way we can score 150 marks by preparing two sections.
Revision Approach
Revision helps you to improve performance, increase your ability and confidence. If you have ample confidence in yourself then the anxiety, exam fever and fear within you will surely reduce. Revision helps you to remember each and every subject studied. It also improves memory power and extends thinking ability. During revision, I used to revise important topics, mostly follow pictorial representations like flow charts, graphs to remember. I suggest you to revise your handwritten short notes, running notes, etc., because if we revise fundamentals then we have a command over the subject. Daily, at least twice (morning and night), I use to revise basic formulae.
At first, I tried to complete my whole syllabus and revise each topic as many times as I could. If I had a doubt regarding any topic, I used to go through the same topic several times to have clarity on the same. I used to write many mock tests to improve my performance.
Self-evaluation
Self-evaluation is for monitoring. Through this monitoring, we can easily identify our weaknesses and strengths. We can judge the level of our preparation and performance which includes evaluating mock tests results through this method. The method of self-evaluation helps us in boosting our confidence level by analysing our mistakes and rectifying them before taking the examination.
