XAT registration 2027 is ongoing at XATonline.in website. XLRI Jamshedpur started the XAT 2027 application process on July 15, 2026 by launching the registration window for MBA admission. Candidates planning to pursue MBA from XLRI Jamshepur or XAMI institutes must apply for the XAT 2027 exam before the last date. Apart from XLRI and XAMI member institutes, about 700+ colleges accept the score of XAT exam for MBA admission. Having a valid XAT score is mandatory for admission so you must apply for the entrance exam before the deadline amd appear for the test on January 3, 2027. XAT score is accepted by about 700 more B-Schools in India, so if you register for it, it leads you to varied options.
So, do not miss the chance and submit your form before the XAT application last date which is December 6, 2026. Through early XAT registration, you can also attempt official XAT mock tests that will be conducted between August and November 2026. There is no option to submit the XAT application form offline, so ensure you submit your form online before the last date. Here are the steps to follow;

XAT Registration Last Date 2027: Documents to Upload
Candidates are required to upload the following document in the XAT application form. The form will remain incomplete unless these mandatory documents are uploaded:
- Scanned digital photograph of less than 1 MB
- Scanned signature of less than 1 MB
Guidelines for XAT Photo
Candidates must upload their photo which meets the following criteria:
- Choose a recent passport size photo to upload
- The photo should be in colour and not more than 3 months old
- If flash is used in clicking the phot, ensure there's no red-eye.
- Look straight in the camera with a relaxed face.
- If you wear glasses make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes can be clearly seen
- Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover your face.
- Do not upload photos from a sunny day where your face is not clearly visible or you are squinting

Yes, XAT is slightly tougher for candidates with non-Engineering background as the Quantitative Aptitude section is of higher difficulty level. However, they can crack it if they work on the fundamentals of Math and practice questions of all difficulty levels. It will take time but they will be able to crack XAT's quant section if they dedicate extra hours to it. Aspirants can find XAT study material online in various online study groups. Students’ groups on Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc. share study material with each other. One can also download MBA exam preparation apps to get relevant and useful study material.
The good part about XAT is that, it has different cut offs for candidates belonging to different academic backgrounds. As part of its commitment to academic diversity, the institute has lower cut offs for candidates from non-engineering background than candidates from engineering background.
The option to select test centre is not there in the XAT application form, but candidates can select cities where they can appear for the exam. XAT is conducted in about 79-80 cities across India and candidates get the option to choose two cites for centre allotment. They have to make this choice in the XAT application form. In the XAT application form, there is one field in which you have to select the test cities, you can simply select the cities of your choice from the drop down. The exam conducting authorities will allot a test centre in the city of first choice to every student. In case, the seat get filled in the centre of a particular city, the seat will be allotted to remaining candidates in the city selected as second option. The centre allotment is done on first come first serve basis. Candidates must fill the XAT application form and submit it as soon as they can so that they are allotted a centre in the city of their choice.
Ideally, candidates should start preparing for XAT from March onwards so that they have ample time to cover the syllabus and practicea good number of mock tests. However, starting preparation in June-July is also fine. About a minimum of six are required to prepare well for the XAT exam as it is one of the tougher MBA entrance tests. Candidates can also opt for coaching classes for XAT as per their convenience. Candidates must study for about six to eight hours daily to be able to cover the syllabus and have enough time for practicing mock tests. Yes, they will need to strike a balance between exam coverage and mock test practice.
However, the capacity of every student is different so, they must decide upon hours of study according to their own capacity and their control over the main topics of XAT. Making a workable plan is very important for XAT preparation, no matter when they start it.
If you misplace your XAT admit card, you don’t need to panic. You can download another copy of the same from your XAT account. You can simply log in to your XAT account with application number and password to download it again. After downloading it, save it in a folder or in email so that you can take a print out anytime you want. The XAT admit card download link will be available for download till the exam day only so candidates must ensure that they have save a copy. If they need to download the XAT admit card after the exam for any reason, they will not be able to do it. Thus, they should save the PDT file of the XAT admit card in a folder or email.

At the examination centre, candidates will have to undergo identification process which will include frisking and examination of documents. Along with the two original copies of the XAT admit card with passport size photo affixed, candidates must carry any one of the following photo IDs:
- Aadhaar Card
- E-Aadhaar card
- Voter ID card
- Passport
- ·Driving License
- University ID card
Candidates must also carry a few copies of their passport size photo (preferably the same as uploaded in the XAT application form). PwD candidates must carry relevant certificates such as PwD affidavit and scribe certificate for appearing in the exam and availing the facilities provided to them.
In case a candidate is not carrying the relevant document, they will not be allowed to enter the examination centre. Candidates should thoroughly read exam related guidelines mentioned on the XAT admit card so that they don’t miss out on anything.
If you are planning to prepare for XAT exam by self study, you need to start early. At least six months before. XAT exam is conducted on the first Sunday of January every year. So, if you start preparing for the XAT in June or July, you will have good six months to prepare. Make a preparation plan that includes XAT syllabus coverage, problem solving sessions, mock tests and revision. Get hold of best books for XAT. Consult mentors or previous year toppers for selecting the best books for preparation. Join online study groups where you can get the help of mentors and peers for problem solving and clearing of doubts in topics. Work in tough topics first and then move to easier topics.
Solve a large number and variety of XAT mock tests to master the syllabus. You will need to do a rigorous work on XAT mock tests as for candidates who opt for self study, have to rely on practice.
There is no provision to change the test centre after the XAT admit card has been released. You can change your XAT test centre only once at the time of filling up the XAT application form. Once submitted, the XAT application form is not editable. There is no other way a candidate can change the test city option. They will have to appear for the exam in the city and at the test centre mentioned in their XAT admit card. They cannot even seek entry in another test centre for appearing in the exam. Insisting on doing so may get them disqualified.
Thus, candidates must fill the test city options in the XAT application form very carefully or arrange for travel and stay in the city where you have been allotted the exam centre.
XAT admit card is released in online mode at the xat online website. Candidates have to download it by using their login ID and password created at the time of form filling. The XAT admit card will be available for download till the exam day however, candidates must download a copy as soon as it is released.
