You have many opportunities ahead of you that you can excel in. In India, there are many medical colleges, you can find both government and private medical colleges. You have a great opportunity to go abroad to study medicine.
In my opinion, keeping an aim to become a doctor is easy but fulfilling that in real life could be difficult. Most of the aspirants are aware that NEET is the entry ticket to some of the top medical colleges across India. However, for that, a high score is a must.
Explore colleges based on NEET
But don’t worry if your score is low or below your expectations. You have many opportunities ahead of you that you can excel in. In India, there are many medical colleges, you can find both government and private medical colleges. You have a great opportunity to go abroad to study medicine. There are other options, too, that you could explore:
- Try next year
- Colleges that fit your score
- Wait for counselling sessions
Try next year
NEET exam has been conducted successfully and declared out results, presently going through the counselling process. Students who got fewer marks than they expected or are not satisfied with their score must be in a state of confusion whether or not to drop a year. First of all, if you are enthusiastic and passionate about becoming a doctor then you can choose to drop a year. In case you don’t want to pursue any other courses other than MBBS through NEET, then you have an option to drop a year. But you should maintain your consistency and spirit throughout the year, because many distractions may occur during your preparation. Losing or dropping a year is not a small issue. If you are not using this time properly, then you may lose another academic year. Seriousness, determination and dedication regarding the next attempt are a must. You should maintain your patience till the results are declared. If you have proper patience, confidence, command over the subject, spirit to study with full dedication for one more year and if you have the right ability to crack the exam, then only go for dropping a year.
Colleges that fit your score
There are some private colleges in which you can join. However, these colleges may prove to be heavy on the pocket. There are categories like Group A, Group B and Group C. For Group C you have to pay a huge amount. And also you have a little chance to get into a college through state government or directly approaching to the colleges. The tution fees in these type of colleges ranges between Rs 12-40 lakh per annum. At last, you have an option called going to abroad medical colleges.
Wait for counselling sessions
If you have a lot of confidence and sure about achieving any private or government seat in a medical college then you can wait for the subsequent counselling sessions. Moreover, have an analysis with last year results and counselling pattern regarding your score, category, etc. This may be helpful and useful for waiting counselling sessions. And you have other several Science courses such as Bachelor degrees and MSc Biology and MSc Zoology etc., and further you can go for research. You can also choose BSc Nursing, GNM, ANM courses.
