This latest update in Kerala Board Grace Marks Policy 2025 benefits SSLC and Plus Two students who have been actively involved in sports, arts, NCC, Scouts & Guides, and science fairs, providing them additional support in their Kerala board exams 2025
Kerala Board Result 2025: In a significant move aimed at encouraging holistic education, the Kerala Board of Public Examinations has revised the grace marks policy for students participating in extracurricular activities. This latest update benefits SSLC and Plus Two students who have been actively involved in sports, arts, NCC, Scouts & Guides, and science fairs, providing them additional support in their Kerala board exams 2025.
Kerala Board Result 2025: Increased Grace Marks for State and National-Level Achievements
According to a new order issued by the General Education Department, the grace mark limit for state-level participation in sports and arts events has been raised from 10 to 15 marks. Students who represent Kerala at the national level will now receive up to 20 grace marks, an increase from the previous 15.
Boost for NCC, Scouts & Guides, and Science Fair Participants
The Kerala government has also recognized the contributions of NCC and Scout & Guide cadets, doubling their grace marks from 5 to 10. Students who have showcased their talents in science, maths, or IT fairs can now earn 10 grace marks, compared to the earlier 5.
Kerala SSLC, DHSE Result 2025: Grace Marks Only for Passing, Not Grade Enhancement
While the policy provides a welcome cushion for students, the board has clarified that grace marks are intended solely to help students pass, not to improve overall grades. For example, a failing grade can be elevated to a passing one using these marks, but they cannot be used to upgrade from a B to an A.
Kerala Board Result 2025: Cap of 30 Grace Marks Still in Effect
The maximum cap of 30 grace marks across all eligible categories remains unchanged. The Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan will oversee the implementation of the revised scheme in schools following the state syllabus, ensuring transparency and fairness in the process.
Encouraging a Balanced Student Life
Officials from the education department highlighted that the revision is intended to reward students’ commitment outside the classroom and to promote balanced personal development. “The decision recognizes the increasing level of competition and dedication shown by students in extracurricular domains,” an official noted.
This development is likely to provide a major relief to thousands of students who juggle both academics and co-curricular responsibilities. With board exam pressure mounting each year, the move is seen as a positive step toward creating a student-friendly and inclusive education system.
