NIRF 2025 Rankings are out. As per the latest NIRF 2025 rankings, IIT Jammu ranks 56th under the category 'Engineering'.
The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech/PhD courses will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
A few more updates are given below:
- The JEE Advanced 2026 application form is expected to be released in April 2026, and the examination will be conducted on May 17, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 admit cards for IIT Jammu admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses are now available for download on the official website for students scheduled to appear from Jan 21 to Jan 24, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 admit cards can now be downloaded from the official portal for admission to the MSc course. Further, the IIT JAM exam 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on Feb 15, 2026.
IIT Jammu Highlights 2025
Established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI in 2016, IIT Jammu is a public/government college In 2018 it shifted the primary operations from its temporary campus in Paloura to the main campus in Jagti, Nagrota. Currently IIT Jammu offers PG, UG, PhD, and other courses through 11 departments across Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, and other streams.
It is one of the esteemed institutes in Jammu and Kashmir and has ranked at 56 by the NIRF 2025 under the Engineering category. It was mentored by IIT Delhi in its initial phases. The State Government of Jammu and Kashmir has provided land of 400 acres for the permanent campus. IIT Jammu offers a two-yearM.Techprogramme across six specialisations. Admission to this course is based on a GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Eligible students seeking admission must qualify for the entrance exam for admission to IIT Jammu. As mentioned, candidates who wish to apply to theM.Techprogramme must have a valid GATE score. However, candidates are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE score and then the shortlisted ones are further called for a written test and interview for final seat allotment process.
The application fee per department is INR 300 for General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC category and INR 200 for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates. This amount is completely non-refundable. Candidates can deposit the requisite application fee by using net banking or debit/credit card facilities. Additional charges are applicable as per the rule of the concerned bank. The fee is, however, not accepted through any other mode.

- Candidates willing to be admitted to any of the programmes offered at IIT Jammu must fill out the application for the prescribed entrance exams based on which they will be selected for further admission process. Given below are the application forms required for different programmes at IIT Jammu:

The schedule of JEE Main counselling will be declared by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority after the declaration of the JEE Main result. Candidates aiming for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) need to meet these cutoff marks in JEE Mains to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
The minimum eligibility required is a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (4-year course) or a master's degree in Science with marks not below the specified minimum. Relaxation of 5% aggregate or 0.5 CPI is offered to SC/ST/PwD category candidates on the minimum eligibility score.
However, candidates who wish to apply to the MTech programme must have a valid GATE score. However, candidates are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE score and then the shortlisted ones are further called for a written test and interview for final seat allotment process.
