When will NTA start JEE Mains 2027 registrations?

JEE Mains Registration Date 2027: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to officially begin the online registration process for JEE Main 2027 Session 1 in late October 2026. Around 13 lakh engineering aspirants are expected to register for the JEE Mains 2027 exam to be held in January 2027 for admission to premier technical institutions including the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).

JEE Main 2027 Registration Last Date Session 1 & 2

 The NTA typically provides an application window spanning 25 to 30 days for Session 1. Also, there is a strict 48 hour to 72 hour window for candidate data correction in the registration form.

  • Session 1 application form will be available until the last week of November 2026.
  • The session 2 forms will stay available until last week of February.

Important Documents To Keep Ready Before JEE Main 2027 Application Starts

A common cause of a rejected JEE Mains 2027 application form or last-minute panic is mismatched identification documents. Keep these ready:

  • Active Aadhaar Card (if using Aadhaar card as ID document): Ensure the name, spelling, date of birth, and gender on your Aadhaar card match your Class 10 mark sheet identically. Update mismatched demographic data at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra beforehand.
  • Other ID proof: Candidates not using an Aadhaar card can use a passport, PAN card, or voter ID for ID verification during registration.
  • Working Mobile Number & Email ID: All one-time passwords (OTPs), verification notices, and city intimation links are dispatched exclusively to this number/email.
  • Valid Category Certificates: OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be issued in the prescribed central government format on or after April 1 of the operational financial year.
  • Academic Mark Sheets: Keep Class 10 and 11 mark sheets ready for accurate roll number and board registration data entry.

Step-by-Step NTA JEE Mains 2027 Registration Procedure

The NTA uses an online multi-stage portal designed to link directly with national identity databases:

Step 1: Authentication & Account Creation

Visit jeemain.nta.nic.in and click on JEE Main 2027 Registration. Candidates must authenticate using Aadhaar / DigiLocker / ABC ID (Academic Bank of Credits) or an alternate government-issued identity (Passport, Pan Card, or Non-Aadhaar verification at the test center). Creating login credentials generates a permanent Application Number that remains unchanged across both sessions.

Step 2: Completing Personal and Academic Details

After logging in, fill out the comprehensive form:

  • Candidate name, parents' names, and date of birth (which must strictly match the Class 10 certificate).

  • Permanent and present addresses with active email and mobile contacts.

  • Academic credentials for Class 10 and Class 12 (roll numbers, school codes, and passing status).

  • Exam preferences: papers selected (Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech, Paper 2A for B.Arch, Paper 2B for B.Planning) and four preferred exam city choices in order of priority.

Step 3: Document Uploads

Ensure all scanned assets meet NTA file specifications:

  • Recent Passport Photograph: Color or black-and-white with 80% face visible against a white background (10 KB to 200 KB, JPG/JPEG).

  • Candidate Signature: Clear signature on white paper using black/blue ink (4 KB to 30 KB, JPG/JPEG).

  • Category / PwD Certificate (if applicable): PDF format (50 KB to 300 KB).

Step 4: Application Fee Payment

Pay the non-refundable fee online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

Step 5: Confirmation Page Generation

Once the payment status reflects "Successful," download and print at least 3–4 copies of the Confirmation Page. An application is incomplete without this confirmation receipt.
