NIT Trichy: Admission 2026, Cut off, Fees, Courses, Placements, Ranking

As per the NIT Trichy ranking 2023, the institute is ranked number nine under the “Engineering” category. Additionally, the institute offers MTech course across popular specialisations such as Chemical Engineering, CSE, Data Analytics, Thermal Power Engineering, etc. The placement percentage for PG courses in 2022 was 92.9%. Companies such as Google, Facebook, Samsung, ITC, Oracle, etc., are the top recruiters visited in the previous year placements.

But, this institute also has got a good ranking as per a recognised ranking body. Thus, if given a choice, IIIT Delhi is a better option than NIT Trichy.

Candidates who are willing to get admission to a two-year MBA course at NIT Trichy must fulfil the basic eligibility criteria of the course. National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, formerly known as Regional Engineering College, was established in 1964 as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu.  It has also been awarded by ASSOCHAM as the best institute to use ICT tools in education and the High Impact Entrepreneurship Campus award jointly by the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship. Yes, it is a good college. 

NIT Trichy NIRF ranking 2025 is 9th under the Engineering category,  30th under the Overall category,  33rd under the Research Institutions category, 9th under the Architecture and Planning category,  and others. In the latest rankings, the college managed to achieve a good position. 

Aspirants with a BTech degree with at least 60% aggregate can apply for M.Tech at NIT Trichy. For admission to MTech, candidates must have a valid score of GATE, which shall be equal to or higher than the cutoff. Selected candidates further are called for CCMT Counselling. Interested candidates must apply for the GATE exam and counselling within the due date.

At the postgraduate level, NIT Trichy offers M.A. English courses to students. The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate and the accepted entrance exam is CUET-PG. Candidates securing zero or negative marks either in Mathematics or in Total Marks in NIMCET test are going to be disqualified. Based on the marks obtained by a qualified candidate in NIMCET test, a rank will be allotted by adopting the following criteria.

• The marks obtained in Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and English will be summed up. Thus, the maximum weighted marks will be 1000.
• Ranking will be based on the total weighted marks a candidate obtains.

The authorities have commenced the NIMCET 2025 counselling process. Candidates who qualify the NIMCET exam and are interested in MCA admission at NITs will have to register for the counselling online at the official website nimcet.admissions.nic.in before the last date. Once the CAT application form is submitted, candidates are not allowed to make changes in it. In case, you've made errors, you need to fill a fresh CAT application form and pay the fees again. However, editing of certain fields such as photo, signature and test city preference is allowed during form correction process which starts 2-3 days after the CAT registration process concludes. The form correction window is opened for 3-4 days during which candidates can edit only these three fields. If they have made a mistake in any other field, they cannot edit it. No request for changes is accepted by the examination authorities. Thus, it is very important to fill the CAT application form correctly with valid details. Candidates must keep the important documents such as Aadhaar card, class 10, class 12, graduation certificates, birth Certificate address proof, work experience documents, etc. To cross check the information while filling the form. They must also be very careful in selecting Iims and courses as they will be eligible for only those Iims and courses which they shall have selected in the CAT form.
