The postponement of NEET PG 2025 to August 3, 2025, has left thousands of medical aspirants in a state of uncertainty and mental strain. Presidents of prominent medical associations, including FAIMA, FORDA, and UDF, highlighted key issues such as uncertainty over job opportunities and the mental stress caused by ongoing uncertainty. While some experts acknowledged that the extended timeline could offer students more time to prepare, many emphasised that the lack of a clear schedule is leading to emotional exhaustion and career planning disruptions.

NEET PG 2025

NEET PG 2025 postponement has raised concerns across the medical community in India. With thousands of aspiring doctors awaiting the NEET PG 2025 exam date, the delay has affected not only their preparation schedule but also their future career plans. Experts and leaders from major medical associations, including the presidents of The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA), and United Doctors Front (UDF) have shared their insights on the impact of NEET PG 2025 postponement on students, citing concerns ranging from job and internship insecurity; delay in counselling processes and increased stress and anxiety among students. Read what experts have to say about the NEET PG postponement 2025 here.

NEET PG Delay Disrupts Student Momentum and Career Plans: Dr Akshay Dongardive

Dr Akshay Dongardive, the Current National President of FAIMA, shared his insights, stating, “Many students had been preparing for months with a fixed date in mind. When the date suddenly changes, it breaks their rhythm and confidence. Students often plan their studies very tightly, so this sudden shift leads to anxiety, stress, and even burnout for some. It’s mentally exhausting to keep the same level of focus for a longer period without a clear target. Postponing the exam means the counselling process will also be delayed. This delays joining dates for PG courses and affects job plans for those who may not get a PG seat this year. It creates uncertainty in career timelines and future plans.”

However, he also shared that extra time can be helpful, especially for students who started late or were juggling internship duties. It gives them a chance to revise more and improve their weak areas. But at the same time, it becomes a disadvantage for those who had already peaked in their preparation and were mentally ready to give the exam. Frequent changes in exam dates shake students’ trust in the system. These decisions should be taken more carefully and communicated early to avoid affecting lakhs of aspirants.

NEET PG Postponement Reflects NBE’s Failure: Dr Rohan Krishnan

Q:   Has NBE released the revised list of NEET PG 2025 centres?
A:

Yes. NBE has released the revised list of NEET PG 2025 cities post exam postponement. There are 233 test cities for NEET PG 2025 exam. The application window will be reopened to choose exam city from the list. The application window will open from June 13 to June 17, 2025. Allotment of NEET PG exam centre 2025 will be provided with the admit card. Candidates must note the admit card has to be downloaded from the official website with login details.

Q:   When will NBE allocate test city for NEET PG 2025?
A:

NBE will release NEET PG 2025 test city allotment on July 21, 2025 as per the revised schedule. Candidates have to declare preferences of test city along while applying online for the exam. NBE will also open application window to choose NEET PG 2025 city from June 13 to June 17, 2025. After test city slip, NEET PG 2025 admit card is released online. Candidates will find name and address of exact test centre in the admit card. The admit card will be uploaded on July 31, 2025.

Q:   What is NEET PG 2025 exam date?
A:

NEET PG 2025 exam date has been revised. The exam will be held on August 3, 2025 after SC gave its approval to NBE. The exam was to be held on June 15, 2025 but it was postponed following SC's order, directing NBE to conduct exam in single shift.  Candidates have to apply online to submit application form for NEET PG exam. NBE released NEET PG 2025 application form on its official website, nbe.edu.in on April 17 and candidates will have to submit it there only. Registration is mandatory to submit application for NEET PG.

Dr Rohan Krishnan, patron of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), shared his insights on NEET PG Postponement, stating, “It is very sad that NEET PG has to be postponed again this year, and it is the fault of NBE. FAIMA has continuously told the board that two shifts for merely 2.5 Lakh candidates is unacceptable, and the examination can easily be conducted in a single shift. There is a lot of confusion among students, and they have lost faith in the examination process due to the normalisation process. Now my question is, why do students need to approach the Supreme Court? Why did NBE not take the advice of experts beforehand?. It is been 5 years since Covid-19 occurred, and not a single examination has been properly conducted by NBE without postponing the examination.”

Delay in NEET PG Will Further Delay Counselling Process: Dr Sandeep Dagar

Dr Dagar, Patron, Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), also highlighted the consequences of NEET PG postponement, stating, “It is very unfortunate that NEET PG aspirants have to go to court to demand a fair single-shift examination against the exam-conducting body, the NBE. This has led to a significant delay and the eventual postponement of the exam, which will inevitably disrupt the counselling process and delay the start of postgraduate courses.”

NEET PG Aspirants Feeling Unprioritized: Dr Aviral Mathur

Meanwhile, the President of the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA), Aviral Mathur, shared insights and students’ perspective on postponement of NEET PG exam, stating, “The sudden change in the exam schedule can severely affect a student’s psychological rhythm and momentum. NEET PG aspirants typically follow an intense, tightly scheduled preparation plan. A postponement introduces uncertainty, which can lead to burnout, anxiety, and difficulty maintaining peak focus.”

He further said, “Postponing the exam doesn’t just delay results — it cascades through the entire system, i.e. counselling is delayed, which means students will begin their post-graduate training later. Internship periods may be extended or misaligned, disrupting students’ plans for both NEET PG eligibility and future academic timelines. Job prospects are postponed, especially for those looking to enter residency programs, private hospitals, or even government service as medical officers. From an emotional perspective, students feel ignored or unprioritized, especially when postponements are made without timely or transparent communication. These aspirants are future frontline doctors; their trust in the system must be preserved, not eroded.”

NEET PG 2025 Single Shift Will Ensure Transparency: Dr Lakshya Mittal

The National President of United Doctors Front, Dr Lakshya Mittal, shared his viewpoint, stating, “The recent decision to postpone NEET-PG 2025, as per the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directive, is a step towards ensuring greater transparency and fairness in the examination process.

While this unexpected delay may be disheartening for many aspirants who were mentally and academically prepared for June 15, I urge all candidates to see this as an opportunity, not a setback. Use this time wisely for one more thorough revision. Stay focused, stay strong. Your hard work will pay off.”
