The All India Institute of Medical Science released the prospectus for the May exam on aiims.ac.in on March 28. The AIIMS will conduct the INI CET 2026 exam on May 16. The INI CTE 2026 applications were also released with the prospectus. The last date to apply for the exam is April 25. The AIIMS will also provide the application correction facility from April 30 to May 2, 2026.

The candidates should note that the INI CET 2026 Application form is available online only. The AIIMS notified that the cutoff date for the completion of internship is July 31. The candidates who will complete their internship after July 31 will not be eligible for registration for the exam. The INI CET admit cards will be available on May 9 and the result will be released by May 23, 2026. After the declaration of result, the qualified candidates will be informed for the Counselling.

What is INI CET?

INI CET or Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test is conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi for admission to PG courses such as Masters of Surgery (MS), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Dental Surgery (MDS), Doctorate of Medicine (DM), and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh). INI CET scores are valid for admission to 19 AIIMS, JIPMER Puducherry, PGI Chandigarh, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, and SCTIMST, Trivandrum. All these institutes admit PG students on the basis of the marks obtained in the INI CET exam only. Earlier these institutes used to conduct separate exams for admission to PG courses. The exam is conducted twice a year, January and July session.

Q:   Can I edit my choices after INI CET form closing date?
A: 

No. Candidates can't edit preferences of choice for INI CET after closing date. It must be noted choices have to be locked as well in the given deadline otherwise it gets locked automatically. Seats are allotted based on declared choices, available seats in particular course and college and other factors. After allotment, candidates do need to report physically for document verification.

Q:   I have a gap of 1 year. Can I still apply for INI CET exam?
A: 

Yes. One can apply for INI CET even if he/she has gap of one year. It must be noted there is no age limit for INI CET exam. Candidates who have completed MBBS course from recognised college/university and completed one year internship in the given deadline can appear for INI CET exam. 

Q:   How many candidates appear for INI CET exam?
A: 

There is no official figure of total number of registrations for INI CET exam. Since 2020, number of candidates have been increasing for the exam. For 2024-25 session, around 60, 000 candidates appeared. As INI CET is one of the toughest exam in medical field, only few candidates qualify the exam and get desired college and course.

Q:   What is good score in INI CET?
A: 

According to experts, scoring 160+ marks in INI CET exam is considered good. Candidates who score 160+ have chance to get good college for PG courses. Scoring marks also depends on difficulty level of the question paper. INI CET 2024 question paper was moderate to difficult. More than 180 questions were easy to attempt.

Q:   How many times can I take CET exam?
A: 

There is no capping on number of attempts for INI CET exam. At the same time there is no age limit. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements can apply online for INI CET exam for admission into PG courses such as MD, MS, MDS etc. AIIMS releases INI CET application form online and candidates have to fill and submit it there only. No offline and other modes of application is accepted. It must be noted INI CET application process comprises basic and final registration. Candidates have to complete the basic registration first to proceed for the final registration. The exam is conducted bi anuallly in computer-based mode.

Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test or INI CET and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate NEET PG both are national-level postgraduate medical entrance exams. A valid score in each exam makes you eligible for admission to various medical courses like MD MS etc. However, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Postgraduate) scores are widely accepted in the country, whereas a few selected institutions accept Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test scores. there are around 16 INIs which accept INI CET score including 16 AIIMS, JIPMER Puducherry, PGI Chandigarh, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, and SCTIMST, Trivandrum.

The INI CET 2026 May exam applicationa were started on March 28 with the release of prospectus. The first step of the INI CET 2026 May application process is one time registration. The candidates have to submit basic candidate information as part of the registration. They will have to register themselves on the portal of AIIMS Delhi through a valid email ID and mobile number.

After the basic registration, candidates have to fill INI CET application form. They have to submit personal information, qualifying exam details, registration number, experience information etc, upload images, select name of state where students want to appear in exam, pay exam fee etc.

Q:   Can I register offline for AIIMS INI CET exam?
A: 

No. According to official information brochure, candidates will have to register online. Registration can be done on the official website, aiimsexams.ac.in to submit applications for AIIMS INI CET 2026 July exam. It must be noted that INI CET application form is filed in two stages, basic and final registration. Those who complete the basic registration can go for final registration. Generation of the Exam Unique Code (EUC) is mandatory to submit applications for INI CET exam.

 

Q:   When will AIIMS provide the application correction window for INI CET May 2026 exam?
A: 

The applications were started on March 28. The last date to apply online is April 25. The AIIMS will provide the application correction window from April 30 to May 2.

Q:   What are the eligibility criteria for the INI CET?
A: 

Candidates must have completed, or have appeared for the final exam of MBBS/BDS from a recognised medical college. The minimum aggregate to be obtained by General/OBC/Gen-PwD category candidates is 55 per cent and for the SC/ ST/ SC-PWD/ ST-PWD, the minimum aggregate is 50 per cent. There is no age limit for candidates. There is also no capping on the number of attempts.

Candidates will be given three hours or 180 minutes to attempt INI CET question paper. According to INI CET exam pattern, a total of 200 multiple choice questions will be asked. Candidates will get 1 mark for every right answer and -1/3 for every wrong answer. No mark will be awarded or deducted for unanswered questions. Q:   Does AIIMS release syllabus for INI CET?

No, AIIMS doesn't release INI CET syllabus as such. However, experts suggest the syllabus comprise all those subjects covered during MBBS course. INI CET syllabus includes pre clinical, para clinical and clinical subjects. Candidates are advised to prepare all the subjects given in these above menioned topics well.

INI CET 2026 Admit Card

The AIIMS will release the admit card online on May 9, 2026. The candidates will be able to download INI CET admit card after log in with the application number and password. The hall ticket will have the details like name, date of birth, date and timing, address of centre, and exam day guidelines.

AIIMS will upload INI CET 2026 admit card online. Admit card link will be activated in second week of May 2026. INI CET 2026 admit card will be released on official website and candidates will have to download it with login credentials. 

Q:   Will INI CET result be valid for other PG exams as well?
A: 

No. INI CET exam result is valid only for admission at Institutes of National Importance. The exam result can't be used for admission at institutes accepting NEET PG score. Presently, there are 23 INIs, including 19 AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry, PGI Chandigarh, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, and SCTIMST, Trivandrum

Q:   Can I request to change my allotted centre for INI CET exam?
A: 

No. Once allotment of INI CET centre is done, no such request will be entertained by the exam conducting body. The exam conducting body tries to provide centre selected by candidate during application process, but at times candidate get other than the selected centre due to various reasons. In that case also demand to change the centre doesn't hold merit. Candidates are allotted exam centre through the admit card. Apart from name and address of exam centre, the admit card comprises other details such as date and timing of exam, exam day guidelines.

INI CET 2026 Result

AIIMS Delhi will release the result for the July session on May 23, 2026. It will release the result online only and the candidates will be required to check their INI CET result online. On the basis of the result, a merit list will be prepared. The eligible candidates will be called for Counselling for AIIMS INI CET seats. Candidates have to score above the minimum cut-off to qualify for the exam. The qualifying cut off differs as per the category. The qualifying INI CET Nov 2025 cut off was 50 percentile for general category, while for the reserved category, the cut off is 45.

Candidates do not have to pay anything to download INI CET scorecard. The scorecard for INI CET can be downloaded after login to official website and providing details such as application number, password, Exam Unique Code (EUC), and captcha in login page. Only those who qualify INI CET exam with the minimum cut off percentile can download the scorecard. AIIMS releases INI CET result online. Scorecard must be preserved as it is required at many stages of admission process.

The AIIMS will notify the INI CET 2026 Counselling dates after the result. It will conduct the Counselling online in May/June in various rounds. The AIIMS will inform the candidates who clear the INI CET CBT exam.

Q:   Who are eligible for the counselling of INI CET 2026 July Session?
A: 

The INI CET 2026 exam will be conducted on May 16. Those who will qualify in the exam can participate in the counselling round. 

The minimum qualifying cut percentile for general and SC/ST categories are 50 and 45 respectively. INI CET 2026 counselling will start with registration. 

Registration will be followed by declaration of preferences where candidates provide their choice for college and course. AIIMS allots seats based on choice declared, INI CET score, reservation factor, available seats in particular course or college etc.

Q:   What is open round counselling in INICET? If I do not take part in round one or round two, will I be able to take part in open round?

So actually, the open round counselling in INICET is held after the first two rounds of counselling. This is not for people who could not allocate a seat in the previous rounds, but for those who fail to attend counselling completely. Such a person will still have the option of getting a seat in institutes.

Yes. You can attend the open round if you have not attended Round 1 or Round 2. The seats at this open round might not be very many, and then your choices might not be as good as in the previous rounds.

Q:   Is choice declaration mandatory for INI CET counselling?
A: 

Choice Declaration is an important and compulsary part of AIIMS INI CET Examination counselling. Candidates must choose the institute and the respective course that they are looking to go forward with . There is no limit of choices, they can choose and unchoose as long as the deadline is not nearby . Candidates must not forget to lock the sureshot choices or they will be automatically locked after the deadline process. 

After the choice declaration, several factors like category reservation, number of seats in that Institute, number of candidates wanting the seat and other things, the candidates are alloted the seat.

Q:   What is the minimum cut off percentile to qualify INI CET?
A: 

Candidates have to score the minimum marks to qualify for the AIIMS INI CET exam. The minimum marks vary for each category of students in the exam. While the General category candidates have to score minimum 50 percentile to qualify for the exam, those who belong to reserved category need to score 45 percentile marks. Anybody who score less than the minimum cut off will not be able to qualify for the exam. Only candidates who will qualify INI CET 2024 exam with minimum cut off can participate in the counselling for seat allotment.

AIIMS doesn't release the official question paper for the INI CET exam. However, some coaching institutes release memory-based INI CET question papers. INI CET question paper proves very handy providing an idea about exam pattern and weightage of questions. INI CET Answer Key

Like question paper the INI CET answer key is also not released by AIIMS. However, those who enrolled themselves can get the answer key. Overall six months time is sufficent for INI CET preparation. This includes 4 month in depth study and 2-month for revision work. The moment a candidate plan to appear for the INI CET, first and formost things he/she should do is to draw a study plan. Focus on those subjects where you are strong in terms of concept. Don't spend too musch time initially on subjects where you are weak. This will demotivate you and affect your preparation. Keep this in mind that concept is key. INI CET analysis 2025: According to students, the question paper for INI CET 2025 was moderate difficult. There were lesser repeated questions this time. Around 60 percent questions were easy to attempt. A good number of questions were asked from Medicine, Anatomy, physiology, dermatology. Most questions were clinical in nature. Overall it was difficult than May exam. Candidates must note that AIIMS doesn't release the question paper and answer key for INI CET. However, coaching institutes and other experts release the question paper answer key which helps candidates to predict total marks. Q:   Can I appear twice for INI CET exam?

Yes. You can appear as many times as you wish. There is no capping on age criteria and number of times to appear in INI CET exam. It must be noted, only those who fulfill the basic elligibility criteria can appear for INI CET exam. Aplication process for INI CET compeises registration, filing details in application form, choosing exam centre and paying fee.

Q:   Will INI CET July session result be valid for the January session as well?
A: 

The result is valid for that particular session only. INI CET January session result and scorecard is valid for admission to January session only and candidates can't get admission in July session based on result of January session. INI CET result PDF comprises a list of qualified candidates in INI CET exam. 

Q:   Is INI CET exam tough?
A: 

Yes. Exam is one of the toughest exams to get admission into PG courses in medical field. However, it can be cracked with proper planning and strategies. Students are advised to prepare all subjects taught during MBBS course. Only those candidates who have valid MBBS degree from recognised college or university can apply for exam. AIIMS conducts exam twice a year, January and July session.

Q:   Does weightage remains same for each subject in INI CET exam?
A: 

No. Weightage varies from subject to subject. As per the experts and students, medicine and surgery portion comprises maximum weightage of around 60-70 percent. Thereafter a good numbe rof questions are asked in pathology. Candidates are advised to prepare these subjects throughly to increase their chance of scoring good marks in INI CET exam.

Q:   What are the passing marks for INI CET result?
A: 

Candidates need to score the minimum cut off marks to qualify for INI CET exam. The qualifying marks is different for different category. To qualify for the INI CET exam, a candidate of general category needs to score 50th percentile or above. Candidates who belong to SC/ST category has to score 45th percentile marks to get it through. Based on cut off marks, a merit list is prepared. The merit list comprises eligible candidates to participate in different counselling rounds for seat allotment. 

Q:   Which topics had maximum questions in INI CET 2025 Nov Exam?
A: 

A good number of questions were asked from topics such as Micro, Anatomy, Dermatology, Physiology etc. There were few questions from OBS Gynae, Ortho etc. Questions were one liner and concept based as well. There were fewer repeated questions this time. The overall difficulty level of the INI CET 2025 November question paper was moderate.

Q:   Do I need to complete the medical internship to become eligible for INI CET exam?
A: 

Yes. Candidates do need to complete the medical internship till the given deadline menioned in the official brochure for INI CET. Completing the medical internship is one of the eligibility criteria for INI CET exam. It must be noted only those candidates who have valid MBBS/BDS degree and completed mandatory 12 months internship, can apply for the exam. 

Q:   Can I use NEET PG scores during INI CET counselling?
A: 

No. NEET PG score will not be valid for INI CET counselling. Candidates will have to qualify INI CET exam with the minimum cut off percentile to participate in the counselling round. Candidates will have to do registration online to participate in the counselling. Apart from registration, INI CET seat allotment includes choice filling, seat processing, allotment result, and reporting for document verification. 4 rounds of counselling will be held for INI CET seat allotment.

Q:   What should be the last month preparation strategy for INI CET exam?
A: 

Last month of INI CET preparation should be dedicated forrevision and practicing mock test and sample paper. Ideally candidates should complete all the subjects throughly till one month before the D-day. In this time, aim should be to solve mock test and analyse the result everytime. Candidates should keep this in mind that last month is very crucial as whole topics should be revised throughly with class notes and other study material. Simultenously candidates should target one mock test daily.

Q:   Where do I check INI CET admit card?
A: 

INI CET admit card is released online and candidates have to download it. AIIMS, the exam conducting body provides a specific date to upload INI CET admit card. Candidates have to download INI CET admit card from the official website, aiimsexams.ac.in. To download admit card candidates will ahve to provide login details. It must be noted AIIMS will not send admit card to individual candidate. 

Q:   What will be the exam timing for INI CET 2026 July session?
A: 

INI CET 2026 exam will be held in single shift in computer-based mode. The exam will begin at 9 am and conclud at 12 pm. AIIMS will release the admit card online only.

Q:   What is the upper age limit for INI CET?
A: 

There is no upper age limit to appear for INI CET exam. At the same time, there is no capping on number of attempts in the exam. Candidates should have completed an undergraduate degree in medical field from a recognised institute/college. They must have scored 55% marks (general category) in qualifying exam. AIIMS, the conducting body will release the official brochure, comprising important dates and details related to exam.
