Freezing option used by 3,847 candidates as DU continues PG seat allotment; Round 1 had seen over 11,000 PG seats allotted

Delhi University has released the Round 2 allotment results for its Postgraduate (PG) admissions for the 2025-26 academic cycle. According to the latest figures, 3,012 applicants have received fresh allocations, while 1,310 candidates have secured upgraded seats compared to their previous allotments.

Additionally, 1,032 candidates have opted to retain their existing choices, reflecting a strong sense of satisfaction with their previous seats. The "freezing" option, which confirms a candidate's final admission preference, was exercised by as many as 3,847 applicants in this round.

This new data follows a robust start to the DU PG admissions process. In Round 1, the university had already allotted 11,314 PG seats, marking a significant early turnout for the postgraduate programmes offered across its various departments and affiliated colleges. The overall number of available PG seats this year stands at 13,500.

The DU PG admission process for 2025 is being conducted through the Common University Entrance Test - Postgraduate (CUET PG), and the response has been encouraging. University officials earlier revealed that this year’s postgraduate cycle has seen an uptick in preference for science, commerce, and interdisciplinary courses.

Meanwhile, on the undergraduate (UG) side, DU reported 4,63,366 registrations through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal, with many of these applicants also appearing for CUET UG. The university also started its BTech programme recently, which witnessed 134 acceptances in Round 1 across Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Electrical Engineering.

The third round of PG seat allotment is expected to further solidify final admissions, especially for highly competitive courses in social sciences, science, and management. Delhi University is also offering supernumerary seats for categories like CW (Children/Widows of the Armed Forces), ECA (Extra-Curricular Activities), and sports, which may further shape final numbers in the coming rounds.

With the second round now concluded, candidates are advised to check their dashboards and complete the necessary admission formalities, including fee payment, within the stipulated timeline to secure their seats.
