NDA preparation tips

The prevailing conditions in the country make it imperative for UPSC to revise its examination calendar. Like various UPSC exams, NDA 1 exam, which was scheduled to be conducted on April 19, has been postponed. Moreover, the commission will post their decision on NDA 2 exam on June 10. Now that the exam has been postponed, candidates have ample time to prepare for it sitting at home. This time should be properly utilized to practice for the exam in a creative way. Here are few tips on how to prepare for NDA 2020 during lockdown.

With the announcement of lockdown, aspirants must be juggling for answer, ‘How to prepare for NDA during lockdown’. Candidates depending on coaching classes must be tensed thinking of their left-over portions and how to get mock tests for practice. So, here we are with the solution to your questions. Let us check how to utilize these days positively towards exam preparation leaving all the stress and strains behind.

Plan timetable

Prepare a proper study routine during this period of lockdown. Divide equal time for all sections. Follow the timetable diligently. Keep yourself positive and active during the study time.

Make notes

Candidates must make notes as they go through each topic. This will help them to revise the topics easily.

Go through the important dates & exam pattern

Candidates must keep NDA dates handy so that they do not miss out any updates regarding the exam. Besides, they must be well acquainted with the NDA exam pattern. Through the exam pattern, candidates will get idea regarding the overall structure of the exam. The exam pattern of NDA is such that it is divided into written exam and SSB Interview. The written exam comprises two parts, GAT and Mathematics. There will be a total 150 questions in GAT while the Mathematics part will carry a total of 120 questions. The GAT section will be for 600 marks while the Mathematics section will carry 300 marks. Total marks of the written exam is 900. Candidates qualifying the written exam are called for SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality. The SSB Interview carries 900 marks.

Go through the syllabus

Candidates must thoroughly revise the chapters given in the syllabus. Questions in the exam are basically based on NDA syllabus. The standard of NDA syllabus is of Class 10, 11 and 12 level. Find out the important topics from the syllabus and revise them properly.

Practice previous years’ questions papers

Practice previous years’ NDA question papers as it will help candidates to know the difficulty level of questions. Besides, candidates will also be able to understand the pattern. Analyse the question papers, find out the topics that has maximum weightage, and focus on those topics.

Take online coaching  

In the time of lockdown, the online learning platforms is proving to be big boon. Students can take help from websites and mobile apps that provide online live classes and mock tests. With the help of online coaching classes, students can get expert advise from the comforts of their homes.

Mock tests

This is the best time to take as many NDA mock tests as you can. Daily give two to three hours for attempting mock tests. Take sectional and full length mock tests. This will help to build up your speed and accuracy. The mock tests plays an important role in exam preparation. The mock tests also helps in analyzing the level of preparation. Do not forget to check your score after every mock test. Try to improve your performance with every mock test. Identify your weak areas and focus on improving those areas.

Plan for the exam day

This is the time when you can plan your strategy for the exam day. Identify your strong and weak areas. Chalk out plans such as which section to attempt first, how many questions to attempt, what should be your good attempt, how to clear the cutoff marks, etc. Go through the previous years NDA cut off marks and exam analysis and prepare accordingly.

Take breaks

Find engaging activities or games to fix the boredom of study. Take regular breaks to freshen yourself, so that it helps to keep your study productive. Take care of your health, eat properly, and stay healthy.

NDA admit card is released one week before the exam day. NDA 1 hall ticket is expected in April. The call letter for NDA 2 will be released in September. Candidates can download their admit cards online only.
