NDA 2 Exam Analysis 2024 for Maths

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted NDA 2 2024 exam for Maths on September 1, 2024. The Maths paper of NDA was conducted from 10 am to 12.30 pm. The Maths paper carried a total of 120 questions. The total marks allotted to this paper were 300. According to NDA 2 exam analysis 2024 for Maths, the overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate to easy. Questions were asked from Algebra, Calculus, Matrices and Determinants, Integral Calculus and Differential Equations, Trigonometry, Vector Algebra, Analytical Geometry Of Two and Three Dimension, and Statistics and Probability.

NDA 2 Maths Question Paper 2024 was framed based on the topics given in the syllabus. NDA Maths answer key 2024 comprises the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam.

The level of questions asked in the Maths paper is of Class 10, 11 and 12 standards. As per NDA exam pattern, for correct answer in the Maths paper of NDA exam, candidates score 2.5 marks. For wrong answer, 0.83 marks are deducted. Candidates with good preparation have done well in the NDA 2 2024 exam.

Q:   How many questions are asked in NDA exam?
A:

GAT paper of NDA comprises a total of 150 questions. The GAT section is divided into two parts. Part A comprises English while Part B consists of General Knowledge. The number of questions in the Maths section of NDA exam is 120. Questions in the Maths section are asked from Algebra Calculus, Matrices and Determinants Integral Calculus and Differential Equations Trigonometry Vector Algebra Analytical Geometry Of Two and Three Dimension and Statistics and Probability. NDA question papers are framed in both English and Hindi by the examination authority.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in NDA exam?
A:

NDA exam is conducted twice a year. The selection process written exam and SSB Interview. The total marks allotted to the written exam are 900. The SSB Interview comprises 900 marks.

Q:   What level of math questions are asked in NDA?
A:

The Paper 1 of NDA Maths section carries 300 marks. The exam comprises of 120 questions in maths from Class 12 level. For each correct answer,   candidate get 2.5 marks. Additionally, 0.83 mark is deducted for wrong response. Questions in Maths are asked from Algebra, Calculus,  Matrices and Determinants,  Integral Calculus and Differential Equations, Trigonometry,  Vector Algebra, Analytical Geometry Of Two and Three Dimension and Statistics and  Probability.

Shestha said, "The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. As compared to last year, the difficulty level of this subject was easy. Questions covered all the topics given in the syllabus. I found the differentiation and integration questions difficult."

Q:   When NDA question papers are released?
A:

NDA question papers are released by UPSC within two to three days after the question papers are released. NDA question papers are made available on the official website of UPSC in PDF. Candidates can download NDA question papers for different subjects-Maths and GAT. Practising the question papers, candidates can know the type of questions asked in the exam.

Q:   What are the important topics for NDA Maths?
A:

The important topics for NDA Maths section are Integral Calculus, Differential Equations Trigonometry Algebra Vector Algebra Matrices and Determinants Analytical Geometry, Statistics & Probability. Candidates must practice previous years' question papers, mock test, go through the important topics, etc. To clear the concepts, candidates must refer to the high school level Maths books.

Q:   Which are the important topics for Calculus in NDA?
A:

The calculus chapter of NDA comprises topics such as Concept of a real valued function, domain, range and graph of a function. Composite functions, one to one, onto and inverse functions. Notion of limit, Standard limits, Continuity of functions, algebraic operations on continuous functions. Derivative of function at a point, geometrical and physical interpretation of a derivative-application. Derivatives of sum, product and quotient of functions, derivative of a function with respect to another function, derivative of a composite function. Second order derivatives. Increasing and decreasing functions. Application of derivatives in problems of maxima and minimal.

Integration as inverse of differentiation, integration by substitution and by parts, standard integrals involving algebraic expressions, trigonometric, exponential and hyperbolic functions. Evaluation of definite integrals—determination of areas of plane regions bounded by curves-applications.

Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples. General and particular solution of differential equations, solution of first order and first-degree differential equations of various types—examples. Application in problems of growth and decay.

Trigonometry

Angles and their measures in degrees and in radians. Trigonometric ratios. Trigonometric identities Sum and difference formulae. Multiple and Sub-multiple angles. Inverse trigonometric functions. Applications-Height and distance, properties of triangles.

Vector Algebra

Vectors in two and three dimensions, magnitude, and direction of a vector. Unit and null vectors, the addition of vectors, scalar multiplication of a vector, scalar product, or dot product of two vectors. Vector product or cross product of two vectors. Applications—work done by a force and moment of a force and in geometrical problems.

Analytical Geometry Of Two and Three Dimension

Rectangular Cartesian Coordinate system, Distance formula, Equation of a line in various forms. The angle between two lines. Distance of a point from a line. Equation of a circle in standard and in a general form. Standard forms of parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola. Eccentricity and axis of a conic. Point in a three-dimensional space, the distance between two points. Direction Cosines and direction ratios. Equation two points. Direction Cosines and direction ratios. Equation of a plane and a line in various forms. Angle between two lines and angle between two planes. Equation of a sphere.

Statistics and Probability

Probability: Random experiment, outcomes, and associated sample space, events, mutually exclusive and exhaustive events, impossible and certain events. Union and Intersection of events. Complementary, elementary, and composite events. Definition of probability—classical and statistical—examples. Elementary theorems on probability-simple problems. Conditional probability, Bayes’ theorem—simple problems. Random variable as function on a sample space. Binomial distribution, examples of random experiments giving rise to Binomial distribution.

NDA apply online link is acrivated on the official website of the exam conducting body. However, we will provide the direct link to register online for the exam. Only online applications are accepted for the exam.

NDA 1 application form 2026 will be released on December 10, 2025. Interested candidates can fill the application form till December 30, 2025. The NDA 2 online form will be released on May 20, 2026. The last date to fill the application form is June 8, 2026.
