SSC CGL 2022 Tier-I CBT will be conducted from April 11 to 21. The regional websites of SSC have already released the application status for the candidates to check their exam dates. SSC CGL 2022 admit card will be released for the candidates four days before the exam date. The candidates can download here their SSC CGL 2022 admit cards. SSC CGL Tier-I exam is conducted online as the Computer-Based Test (CBT). The candidates need to reach the exam centre one hour before the exam and follow all the instructions released by the commission for the exam day.

SSC CGL 2022 Tier-I Syllabus

SSC CGL syllabus is the most important part of exam preparation. The candidates are required to cover all the topics mentioned in the syllabus. The four key components of the SSC CGL syllabus are:

General Intelligence & Reasoning

It includes questions of both verbal and non-verbal types.

General Awareness

Questions in this component are aimed at testing the candidates’ general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society.

Quantitative Aptitude

The questions are designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate.

English Comprehension

Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his/her basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. is tested.

SSC CGL Tier-I Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-I exam is conducted as per the structure notified in the official notification. The structure of the Tier-I paper is as follows.

The candidates need to score as much as they can to ensure their selection even after the normalisation of marks.

Negative Marking in SSC CGL Tier- CBT

The candidates should note that there is a negative marking for 0.5 marks for each of the wrong answers. To tackle the negative marking, the candidates can skip the questions where they don't know the answers. But this is not possible because it is a competitive exam and the higher the number of the correct answer will increase the score hence the candidates try to answer the maximum questions. The candidates can resort to intelligent guesses in case they are confused in two of the options but only after solving the question at least halfway.

Q:   When was the SSC CGL 2024 notification released?

The SSC CGL 2024 notification was released online. The last date to apply online was July 24, 2024. The SSC CGL applications was also start with the release of official notification. The Commission released the SSC CGL 2024 notification pdf online only. The SSC CGL 2024 exam will be conducted from September 09 to 26, 2024. The Commission will release the official answer key (tentative) within a week of the exam. The candidates will be required to send the objections against the incorrect answers.

Q:   What were the SSC CGL 2023 Tier 2 Dates?
A: 

The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam dates on August 19. But later the Commission while releasing the SSC CGL admit card declared that SSC CGL Tier 2 exam will be conducted on October 26 ad 27.  The Commission will conduct the SSC CGL 2023 Tier 2 exam as a Computer-Based Exam (CBE) at the designated exam centres. The Commission is expected to release the SSC CGL Tier 2 admit card from October 20 onwards. 

SSC CGL 2023 Tier 1 exam was conductd from July 4 to 27 and the tentative answer key was released on August 1. The Commission is expected to release the SSC CGL 2023 Tier 1 result soon on its official website - ssc.nic.in.

Time Management

Time management is the most important factor in the SSC CGL exam. The candidates must try to solve the question in the first attempt itself because it would be very difficult to come back to that question after completing the section.
The other important aspect of time management is time-saving. The candidate must not waste the time on one question.

Do not panic

The candidates should remain calm and composed while appearing in the exam. The candidates should not lose their cool even when they cannot solve two-three questions in a row. Losing cool during the exam can impact negatively the overall performance of the candidate.

Intelligent Guess

There is a provision of negative marking in the SSC CGL Tier-I exam. The candidates should abstain from guessing the right answer because four wrong answers will nullify the gain of one right answer. Besides that, the candidates will lose five questions with a resultant total of zero marks. But where the candidate can eliminate the options and be left with the two options, they can go for the intelligent guess in one or two questions only.

Arrange essential things

The candidates must arrange the essential things required at the exam centre. It includes.

  • Copies of the CGL admit card
  • Government ID Proof
  • Pen
  • Comfortable clothes for the exam
  • Water Bottle
  • Sanitiser
  • Travelling arrangement to the exam centre

When the essential things are arranged, the candidate will feel confident.

Do not use mobile

Mobile helps the candidates, but it distracts them too. If possible, do not talk to anyone on the exam day because it can pressurise and demoralise the candidate. So it is better to abstain from using mobile on the exam day (before the exam).

Sleep

The candidate must sleep for at least six hours on the preceding night of the exam. Good sleep will make the candidate comfortable in the exam. A good amount of sleep helps in the efficient working of the brain.

The Tier 2 cut off for the SSC CGL 2025-26 exam will be released at ssc.gov.in along with the result. Also, it will be issued category and post-wise for the exam that was held on January 18 and 19.

No. The Tier 1 marks for the SSC CGL are not used in the preparation of the final merit list. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is qualifying in nature. Candidates are shortlisted for Tier 2 exam. However, the final selection and ranking is based on the marks obtained in the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam.
