The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts Paper 2 of the CTET exam based on the official syllabus and exam pattern. The CTET Paper 2 syllabus comprises Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Sciences. There are a total of 30 questions from CTET Maths Paper 2.

As per the CBSE CTET mathematics syllabus, 20 questions are from content such as algebra, arithmetic, geometry, fractions, ratio and proportion, trigonometry, mensuration, etc., and 10 questions are on pedagogical issues such as nature of Mathematics, evaluation, remedial teaching, problem of teaching maths, etc.

Candidates generally find the CTET Maths section of Paper 2 a bit difficult, as per the feedback shared by those who took the exam in past years. It is suggested that one should prepare the Mathematics section of the CTET 2026 exam well in advance to score high.

According to the NCTE notification, candidates require 60% or more to pass the CTET examination. The minimum marks required by a candidate being a General category to qualify the CTET exam is 90 out of 150 and for SC, ST, OBC and PwD is 82 out of 150.
