CUET Exam Analaysis 2026

Common University Entrance Test UG 2026 exam analysis is being updated soon after the exam is conducted. Candidates can check CUET subject wise exam analysis, student reaction and important questions asked. CUET UG 2026 exam is being held between May 11 and May 31, 2026 in CBT mode. Q:   What is the CUET marking scheme?
A: 

NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2026:

  • Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
  • Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
  • Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
  • If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
  • If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.
Q:   What is the difficulty level of the CUET exam?
A: 

The difficulty level of the CUET exam varies between moderate and tough. Since the CUET UG exam is held for multiple subjects and slots, the difficulty level of the exam varies from subject to subject. Sometimes, the difficulty level may also vary for different slots. While for the well-prepared candidates, the difficulty level will be low, for the underprepared students, the level of difficulty will be on the higher side.  

Q:   What type of questions are asked in the CUET exam?
A: 

The CUET questions are objective in nature and carries four options also known as MCQs. Candidates will have to choose the correct answer option and click on it with the help of mouse. Since CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in a CBT mode, test-takers will be able to mark only one answer option. In case it is the correct option, students will get +5 marks and in case of wrong answer, negative marking scheme will be applied. Hence, candidates must ensure the accuracy of the answer before selecting the answer.

CUET UG 2026 is being held in CBT mode. The questions are in objective and multiple choice (MCQ) format. The CUET exam pattern 2026 is given in the table below.

Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt all the sections of the CUET question paper?
A: 

CUET UG question paper for each subject will consist of 50 questions. Candidates will be required to attempt all questions and no optional questions will be provided. In CUET UG 2026 there are 37 subjects- 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and general tests. While filling the CUET application form, candidates can select upto five CUET subjects aligning with the subjects studied in class 12th and course requirement.

Candidates must attempt all the questions of the subjects selected. However, candidates must keep in mind the negative marking and select the options carefully.

Q:   Does the CUET syllabus also include chapters from Class 11?
A: 

No, class 11th subject syllabus is not included in CUET UG exam. Students who are preparing for CUET 2026 exam must focus on class 12th NCERT curriculum. NTA prescribes the CUET UG syllabus on its official website. Candidates must be familar the detailed syllabus mentioned on the NTA CUET official website- cuet.nta.nic.in. However, for better concepts clarity, candidates may refer to the class 11th resources.

NTA CUET 2026 exam will be scheduled in May/June 2026 tentatively. Candidates preparing for board examinations must prepare well for the CUET exam along.

Q:   What is the CUET exam duration for each subject?
A: 

As per CUET exam pattern, the subjects are divided into three sections as:

Section I- Languages 

Section II- Domain Subject

Section III- General Test

Candidates will get 60 minutes for each subject. Candidates will not be given extra time.

Q:   How is CUET UG cut off calculated?
A: 

The CUET UG cut off is determined by CUET participating universities seperately. Parameters on the basis of which CUET UG cut off is released are:

  • Total number of candidates that appeared for the CUET UG exam
  • The number of seats offered by the participating universities through CUET UG
  • The difficulty level of the CUET exam
  • Overall performance of the test takers (pass percentage/ score range, etc.)

CUET cut off is based on the percentile of the candidate. To calculate the CUET percentile following formula is applied:

100*Number of candidates appeared in the session with a raw score is equal to or less than a candidate/ total number of candidates appeared for CUET UG.

Q:   Will CUET UG exam duration vary for each subject?
A: 

No, CUET UG exam duration will not vary for each subject. The exam duration will be unform for all CUET subjects that is 60 minutes. Candidates will be required to attempt 50 questions within the given time limit. The marking scheme of each question remains the same.

Q:   What is a good score in CUET UG?
A: 

On analysing the CUET UG cut off for the academic year 2025-26, scoring above 700 marks can be considered a good score in CUET UG. Candidates scoring above 700 may fall in the category of 95+ percentile. Candidates can get admission to top central  universities like University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and other universities in the desired course. Given below is the range that is considered good for admission:

  • Very Good Score: 700 and above
  • Good Score: 650 and above
Q:   How to apply for counselling after CUET?
A: 

After obtaining the CUET results, candidates will be able to apply for CUET counselling for various participating universities. To apply for CUET UG counselling, candidates can follow the process below;

  • Register for the CUET cousnelling process on official website of participating university
  • Fill the CUET UG admission application form like CSAS UG for DU, BHU UET application form for BHU and so forth.
  • Upload the CUET UG scorecard or enter the marks obtained in the eligible subjects
  • Declaration of admission status/ CUET cut off
  • Visit the university for verification of documents and pay the admission fee

Q:   How many questions are there in the language section of CUET UG?
A: 

CUET UG Language section will include 50 questions. Candidates must attempt all questions. There will be no optional questions.

The language section will check candidate's reading comprehension based on different types of passages. This section will also include questions from grammar. To prepare for the CUET UG language section, candidates must solve previous year question papers and mock tests to become familiar with the type of questions asked in the exam.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) score 2026 will be accepted by more than 205 universities (central, state, private and deemed) across India. On the basis of the CUET UG score, candidates are offered admission to UG programme of the participating colleges. Candidates applying for admission to UG programme must ensure to check the course eligibility criteria before filling the application form.

Q:   What is CUET UG provisional answer key?
A: 

National testing Agency (NTA) releases the provisional CUET answer key soon after the exam is conducted. In the CUET UG provisional answer key candidates can check the correct options for each question and their markes responses. On release of the CUET UG provisional answer key, candidates are given the opportunity to challenge the answer key before the declaration of results. In case of any discrepancy in the answers provided by the conducting body, candidates can raise objections with justification/evidence. If found correct, CUET answer key is revised and is released soon after. 

CUET UG 2025 provisional answer key has been at cuet.nta.nic.in. Candidates who appeared for the exam can check their recorded responses and CUET answer key. Candidates will be able to challenge the CUET UG provisional answer key in three days window.

Q:   How can I access the CUET UG cut off list?
A: 

Students can access the CUET UG cut off list only after the cut offs are released by the CUET UG participating universities. The following steps should be followed to access the CUET cut off list of universities candidate is desirous to take admission in.

  • Visit the official website of the applied and participating institutes
  • On the homepage, click on the link to the current academic session CUET Cut Off
  • A new login page will open on screen. Enter the credentials and submit
  • Now, you can access the CUET UG cut off list when released

The above steps will be applicable only if instittues release the CUET UG cut offs. Otherwise, if the institutes release merit lists carrying their scores, then the minimum score would be considered as the CUET UG cut off. Universities like Delhi University does not released CUET cut off. Candidates will know the college/course allocated on the basis of the preferences filled by the candidate while filling the application form.

Q:   I am a class 12th board topper. Do I need to participate in CUET UG counselling or will I be offered direct admission?
A: 

Yes, candidate will have to participate in CUET UG counselling process even if they are class 12th topper. Candidates cannnot get direct admission to central universities without CUET. Class 12th marks are generally used for tie breaking criteria only.

Q:   What is expected CUET cutoff?
A: 

CUET cutoff vary from college to college. However if a candidate is seeking admission to top central universities in India they must score aboe 750 marks to get admission in top courses like B.Com Hons., B.A Eco Hons. B.Sc and so forth. For admission to good colleges, candidate must score above 650 marks in CUET 2026.

Q:   When will JMI release CUET cutoff?
A: 

Jamia Milia Islamia releases the CUET merit list instead of CUET cutoff list. Candidates who will be shortlisted can check their names on the merit list when released. JMI releases the CUET merit list soon after the declaration of CUET results. 

Q:   When and where to download CUET cutoff?
A:
