B.Tech. in Energy Science and Engineering - Batch of 2025
4.2
Energy engineering at IIT Delhi.
Placements: Around 80% of students got placed in our batch while others are thinking of higher studies. The highest salary package offered is above 1 CPA. The lowest salary package offered is around 6 LPA. The average salary package offered is 20 LPA. Top recruiters are Google, Samsung, Amazon, Flipkart, etc. Top roles offered are in quant, consulting, and core branches.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available on the whole campus. Smart classrooms are built in a new lecture hall. The library is full of resources, books, research papers, and a good capacity of seats. Hostels are good but have a bit of old rooms. They have basic amenities like a bed, table, chair, mirror, etc. The mess food is normal. Sports facilities are available.
Faculty: One of the best things about IIT Delhi is its professors. They are very good in our department. They are very helpful and qualified from very good universities. They love teaching. The course curriculum is very relevant and industry-based. We can do projects and research work also if we like to do.
Other: IIT Delhi is also famous for its fests like RDV and Tryst. There are also tech fests, etc.

Really good infrastructure and crowd.
Placements: Energy engineering is a new branch in IIT Delhi. It started in 2020. It is the first batch to get placed. This year the first batch of B.Tech in energy science and engineering will be placed. We can get an idea of the placement scenario only after placements of 2024 are over.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good. Our college has Wi-Fi, a hostel, libraries, and a big central library. The food in the mess is very good. Many night canteens are available on campus. There is also an IIT hospital on Campus. We have an Olympic-size swimming pool and a fully equipped gym.
Faculty: Teachers here are very knowledgeable. They are always ready to help, but it is hard to understand whatever is taught in classrooms. The college follows relatively grading in many courses. The course curriculum is very relevant and makes students industry-ready.

5.0
Energy engineering in IIT DELHI.
Placements: My batch is the fourth batch in my branch as the branch was introduced in IIT Delhi in 2021 only, and next year the placements will start for the first passing batch from IIT Delhi. Although the average package in the college is nearly 25 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is very well maintained and properly renewed at proper intervals of time. In each hostel, they have their own playgrounds, gyms, mess, tennis courts, cricket court, basketball ground, and the food quality in my hostel is the best in the complete IIT.
Faculty: The teachers in the course are really helpful if you ask them for help, especially the director of the institute, i.e., Rangan Banerjee sir, who has himself been a professor of my own branch. So that actually helps even more in the courses' academics, and they even support us for new ideas financially.
Other: The first batch will pass out next year.

Oddly Satisfying Place to Be At.
Placements: This year, the placements opened for the first time as this branch was introduced 4 years ago, and the placements are exceeding the institute average. Some students even have PPOs and offer letters, and some 3rd-year students are also getting a lot of internships.
Infrastructure: All the required facilities are available, and they are of top-notch quality. The mess food is good, although there is some spacing issue in the rooms due to the small campus size, but it is bearable. The sports and games facilities are really good; you can find any sport here.
Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful, soft-spoken, and humble. The course curriculum is relevant for future advancements in the energy sector. The teachers here are highly qualified; you can tell because a single Ph.D. holder is just an assistant professor here.

Review of IIT Delhi - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: Placements are very good in our college.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi speed is very slow. All washrooms are not well-maintained. Our college has a library, labs, and classrooms. The food served in the hostel is average.
Faculty: All teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Our college lives up to its reputation. Semester exams are not difficult, but you need to prepare for at least 1 hour every day. Exams are conducted very strictly. Some seniors got a 5 CGPA in our course.
Other: I chose this course because of its potential, and it is an essential part of studies in the future considering the need to switch to renewable resources. Events and fests are held very well in our college. Students enjoy them a lot. They are very well-managed and entertaining.

IIT Delhi, is a dream of Millions.
Placements: Our batch is the first batch of Energy Engineering at IIT Delhi. So, the placement for our B.Tech Batch has not taken place so far. Energy Engineering is an inter-disciplinary course of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering which has become quite demanding from the core point of view, nowadays. Hence, it is expected that it will have similar placement statistics as the Electrical & Mechanical Engineering with flying colors.
Infrastructure: I live in Udaigiri Hostel. Rooms are quite spacious with furniture and essential commodities. Hostel food is of good quality but only veg food is provided. Wi-Fi is available 24x7 inside hostel, in fact inside every institute building with an upper bound of 10 GB per day. Classrooms are world class. Library facility is also very good.
Faculty: Professors are of world class and are highly qualified. However teaching quality differs from person to person. Course curriculum is highly relevant from the Energy sector point of view. The curriculum, with the hands on experiments make students industry ready. Difficulty of semester exams totally depends upon the professor who is teaching that particular course. Generally, semester exams are a little difficult. The pass percentage is 30%.

I am moderately satisfied with the limited range of job opportunities in energy science.
Placements: Placements are offered at Bharat Petroleum, Deloitte India, Sterling Power, and others, as discussed during our orientation. Roles offered are research projects on sustainable energy.
Infrastructure: There is a separate department, along with a hall and a library. There are labs with good equipment for people who are pursuing energy science and to conduct experiments like solar cells. Classrooms are conducted in lecture hall complexes. There are 4 floors, but there are no elevators. There are no washing machines in the wing I live in, and there is no drainage channel flowing across the hostel, which can cause some health hazards to students living here. Rooms look shady and the walls have no proper painting. Some food items are good. Most people prefer a night mess or canteen. There is only one proper, tiny hospital with less friendly staff, but we will just get basic health care there. Sports facilities are good here with a newly opened Mittal sports complex with indoor games, a swimming pool, table tennis, badminton, squash, etc. Boys' hostels have facilities like billiards boards, table tennis, cricket, etc.
Faculty: Teachers in this course are from the energy industry or research scholars with a broad understanding of how things work. This course has more valuable applications and fewer job opportunities. Exams are moderately difficult, with a pass percentage of 70% to 80%.
Other: I chose this course because I am oriented towards solutions for challenges in energy sustainability in the future. More opportunities in placements are to be considered. RDV is the biggest fest at IIT Delhi. The campus crowd is very good and cooperative. The campus surroundings are filled with huge buildings and wide lawns. There are foreign and Indian scholarships for girls, students with less than average household income, etc. They also provide merit scholarships for students with academic excellence. IIT Delhi is known to me as an institution with a huge and versatile range of clubs.

It is an amazing college with superb placements, smart peers, and good facilities.
Placements: The B.Tech course in energy engineering was introduced in the year 2021. So, there is no data available for placements as we will be the first batch of energy engineering to sit for placements in 2025. Placement opportunities for energy engineering seem high as the whole world is concerned about energy and power.
Infrastructure: The college campus is smaller compared to other IITs, but it is very good and well-equipped. Labs are decent. Classrooms are good, and courses with more number of students attending are taken in halls or auditoriums. Wi-Fi connection is available in most areas, and the speed is decent with a daily quota. The library is very good and open 24x7. Energy engineering was previously offered only for the M.Tech course, but as it is now started for B.Tech, you can expect the equipment and facilities to be good. Hostels are good for double-shared rooms, but they are small when it comes to triple-shared. Food quality varies from hostel to hostel, but generally, it is the best compared to other IITs. Recently, they made bigger hostels which have many sports and extracurricular facilities. Girnar is considered the best in terms of sports and games facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Every teacher has a different approach. Some teachers are very good, but some are very bad. In the first year, every student studies the same courses and is not branch specific. Semester exams are difficult, and there is high competition among peers to score well to improve their CGPA. Pass criteria for each course vary, but generally, it is 30% above marks in total. Around 80% of the students pass the course.
Other: I have chosen this energy engineering course because it is a new branch, which is only offered in IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. I had an option of civil engineering, but energy engineering seemed a better choice because of future prospects and how the world is conscious about energy systems. Students get a good number of scholarship opportunities to grab scholarships, and scholarships are available based on family income.
