PUMDET MSc 2024: Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility, Syllabus, Results

PUMDET is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) to shortlist students for admission to MA and MSc programmes offered at Presidency University, Kolkata. PUMDET has separate entrance tests for admissions to science and humanities courses. When applying for admission through PUMDET, applicants can apply for a maximum of two subjects. Since Presidency University is quite popular in West Bengal, a large number of students apply for PUMDET for their postgraduate education. The number of applicants and limited seats at the university make the entrance exam more and more competitive each year.

Age Limit: No upper or lower age limit

Academic Qualification

• Have cleared (not before 2020) or appeared for the BA (Hons) examination in 2025 from any recognized University.
• Have appeared for the BA (Hons) exam and should have their final results at the time of counselling and produce their original mark sheets/grade cards of all semester/annual examinations passed at the Bachelor’s level. Such candidates must fulfil the academic eligibility norms for their applied courses tabled below for admission.
• Have appeared for their final BA (Hons) examination, but their final results have not been declared at the time of counselling, such candidates shall be given provisional admission on the basis of the production of their previous mark sheets/grade cards of all previous semester/annual examinations at their Bachelor’s level. However, candidates are supposed to submit their final mark sheet by the mentioned date to ensure that they fulfil their minimum eligibility criteria for admission.
• Must secure the minimum required percentage of marks/CGPA in honours/major subject as per the following table in their BA (Hons) examination for final and confirmed admission.

The PUMDET 2025 application form is likely to be released online in October 2025. It is advised that the applicants check the PUMDET eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. Before filling out the application form, they must register with their personal details and contact details. Then they can go on to fill the form with particulars like academic details, course preferences, exam centre preferences, etc. The PUMDET application fee must also be paid online right after filling out the form. Candidates can pay the application fee for PUMDET using net banking/ debit card/ credit card or by cash using Allahabad Bank e-challan. The fee amount is mentioned below.

PUMDET Admit Card is released by the exam conducting body, WBJEEB, on the official website of the exam i.e., wbjeeb.nic.in. To access the PUMDET 2025 admit cards, registered candidates must enter their login credentials (application numbers and dates of birth). Important exam day details (exam timings, reporting time, exam centre address, etc.) will be mentioned on the admit card. The candidates must carry their admit cards to their exam centres. Those who fail to do so will not be allowed to take the exam. 

The Presidency University, Kolkata conducts the Presidency University Masters Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET) to offer students admission in postgraduate courses offered in the streams of Humanities and Sciences. To get admission to the Presidency University for a postgraduate course, students need to prepare well and study the right material to ace the entrance exam. 

Step-wise Preparation Plan for PUMDET 2025

• Step 1: Understand the PUMDET Pattern and Marking Scheme.

PUMDET 2025 results will be declared by the exam conducting body i.e., WBJEEB after the exam has been conducted. The PUMDET results are published in the form of rank cards that candidates can access using their login credentials. These rank cards reflect the total marks obtained by the candidates and their ranks. PUMDET rank cards must be produced during the time of counselling along with other relevant documents. Admissions will be given based on these ranks after the exam body ascertains that all the documents are in order.
