ICSE Topper 2023 Austin Sibi scored a total of 488 marks out of 500 in ICSE Exams 2023 without any coaching! In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Austin shared his ICSE Board Exams 2023 preparation strategy, career plans, tips for aspirants and more.

ICSE Topper 2023 Austin Sibi scored a total of 488 marks out of 500, i.e. 97.6% in ICSE Exams 2023 without any coaching! Sibi is a student of Carmel Academy, Bengaluru, who is looking forward to taking non-medical stream to pursue a career in Computer Science. Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, CISCE announced the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, ICSE Result 2023 on May 14, 2023, at 3 pm. Expressing delight over his ICSE results, Austin said that he was expecting more than 98 percent marks, however, he is satisfied that he didn't score much lower than his expectation.

Q: Congratulations on your result! How was your reaction after seeing the results? Did you score what you expected?

A: I had mixed feelings about seeing my results as I had hoped for 98+ but was also satisfied that I did not go way below my expectations.

Q: Please tell us something about your family background.

A: My family is from Kerala, settled in Bangalore. My dad is an ex-service man and current works for merchant navy. My mother is a homemaker.

Q: Please tell about the stream that you are targetting for

A: I am targeting for science streams, specifically PCMC course as I love computer science.

Q: What was your strategy to score above 95% ?

A: I had no particular strategies, just that no topic must be skipped and get a good night’s sleep before the exam.

Q: Did you take any online or offline coaching?

A: I did not take any form of coaching. Classroom teaching and self-study was enough.

Q: Who encouraged you the most in this journey?

A: My biggest motivation was my family, although they never insisted me to study.

Q: What was your routine during ICSE board exam preparation?

A: I had always been the type who study before the exam. My school had given a lot of revision so I just had to revise the day before exam, so I was pretty calm. During the exams, I studied for 6 hours at most.

Q: What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming?

A: I plan to continue in the field of computer science and I hope to get into IIT, so cracking JEE is my current goal.

Q: What is your favorite subject?

A: My favourite subject is computer science and maths.

Q: Are you planning to begin preparing for any entrance exam?

A: Yes I plan on going to Allen for JEE Mains coaching.

Q: What is your dream college/institute?

A: My dream institution is IIT.

Q: What are your future goals?

A: Any good career in the field of computer science would be my first choices, like AI or programming

Q: Please share some tips for students prepping up to appear in ICSE Board Exams 2024

A: I believe that you should study a topic on the day it was taught. This makes it easier to study before the exam. Instead of studying for 12+ hours before the day, you can just study as u r taught. This reduces stress and gives u more time to revise
