NIFT conducts spot counseling for the seats that remain vacant after all the regular seat allotment rounds. This round is conducted at the last and is an opportunity for the candidates to get into NIFT if they have missed the chance to get into the admission process at NIFT. NIFT SPOT counselling will be conducted after the 3rd round of NIFT Regular Counselling. It will be conducted for students who have not got a seat in the subsequent round of counselling. The NIFT Spot Counselling portal is same as in case of other rounds: nift.admissions.nic.in. For 2026, the SPOT counselling will begin from July 19, 2026. The document verification rules will be the same as those done in regular rounds of counselling. The choice filling will be done till July 23, 2026 and seat allotment will be done on July 24, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for NIFT Spot Counselling
All the eligible candidates, including absentees of previous rounds of NIFT counselling, will be allowed to participate in NIFT Spot Round of counselling, except those who became ineligible during document verification due to cut-off marks or any other valid reasons, age, etc.

What is the registration fee for NIFT Spot Round?
The registration fee for SPOT Counselling is INR 5000. Read on the various criteria for this fee payment.
- Newly registered candidates will pay the participation/registration fee of Rs.5,000/- before choice filling.
- Candidates who have already got a seat by paying acceptance/academic fee and have not withdrawn in any previous NIFT rounds are exempted from the participation/registration fee.
- Candidate who have already secured the seat by paying acceptance/academic fee and they withdraw their seat in any previous rounds will pay the participation / registration fee of Rs. 5,000/- before choice filling.
- The fee is non-refundable.
How to fill Choice & Lock Colleges and Courses in SPOT Counselling?
- Candidates who have filled the participation fee of INR 5000 and have verified the documents will be allowed to fill the choices in case of NIFT Spot rounds.
- All the choices will be shown to the candidate irrespective of whether a seat is available or not, because during processing, a few virtual vacancies may arise.
- For all provisionally admitted candidates who have already paid the admission fee, if they desire to participate in the Spot Round, then during choice filling, the provisionally admitted campus & program where he/she has already completed admission will not appear in the list of available choices.
- After locking, the admitted choice will automatically be added to the last position of newly filled choices.
- ‘NIFT Lock Choice’ button will be activated as per SPOT counselling schedule.
- If candidates fail to lock their choices by the last date & time, their last saved choices will be automatically locked by the system afte deadline given.
- All the features supporting choice filling will be the same as the main NIFT counselling choice filling process.

There is no fixed number of mock tests one should take before the NIFT Entrance Exam. A candidate should take at least one mock test daily for the NIFT Entrance Preparation. 10-15 mock tests will really help in preparing for the exam.
