UCEED 2026 Admission Cut-off Vs Qualifying Cutoff

UCEED 2026 cut-off will be available for all candidates who have appeared in the national-level design entrance exam. IIT Bombay will release the cut-off in the form of mean and standard deviations. The UCEED 2025 Part-A has a mean score of 61.50 and a standard deviation of 25.69

The candidate needs to check the cut-off for their applied category and their admission chances. It is mandatory to meet the cut-off, or else the candidate will be out of the race for admission. The qualifying cutoff is prepared by considering UCEED 2026 Part A marks. Candidates securing the cutoff marks will have their Part B paper evaluated. Candidates who meet the cut-off will be issued UCEED 2026 merit ranks. The admission cut-off for UCEED 2026, as the name suggests, will be released at the time of admission. It is the minimum mark a candidate needs to secure in the UCEED 2026 exam to be considered for seat allotment and admission. Also, the admission cutoff will be released for all the participating colleges. The scorecard for UCEED 2026 will be available for download from the second week of March 2026.

UCEED 2026 Part-A Cut-off Calculation

Cut-off Formula:

  • General/Open Category: Mean + (Z × Standard Deviation) = 61.50 + (0.2 × 25.69) = 66.63 (Rounded to 100 for the final cut-off)
  • OBC-NCL & EWS: 90% of General cut-off
  • SC/ST/PwD: 50% of General cut-off

Expected Cut-off Percentage for Different Categories

The expected cutoff for different categories are as follows:

Category Minimum % in Each Section Overall Qualifying Score
Open/General 10% 100
OBC-NCL/EWS 9% 90
SC/ST/PwD 5% 50

The Part A cut-off will be used to shortlist candidates. Part B answer booklets will be evaluated for qualified candidates. Total marks and category-wise UCEED 2026 merit ranks will be issued to candidates who meet the Part A cut-off. In the case of candidates who fail to meet the cut-off, the UCEED 2026 scorecard will only include Part A marks.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   Can I get admission in IIT Hyderabad with 100 merit rank in UCEED 2025?
A:
The closing rank for IIT Hyderabad in 2022 was 43. So, if you secure a merit rank of 3 in the UCEED 2024 exam, you chances of admission to the B. Des will be very low. To have a good chance of admission into the institute, you must target a UCEED 2024 merit rank within the top 40. However, note that if you belong to reserved categories, in that case the cut-off would be lower. Further, you will be considered for admission under both the reserved category and open category.
Q:   What is the UCEED cut-off for admission to B. Des programme at IIT Bombay?
A:
IIT Bombay is among the most popular institutes to pursue a design course in India. So, it is no surprise that cut-off for admission to the institute is pretty high. For instance, for the academic session 2022-23, the Round I cut-off rank for the Open category was 16. The category-wise cut-off ranks for OBC-NCL category was 14, while the cut-off was 5 for SC and 3 for ST. Note that cut-off tends to get lower as we move from the 1st to the 3rd round of seat allotment. This happens because if there is any vacancy, it is allotted to the candidate next in the order of merit.
Q:   Will UCEED cut-off be round specific?
A:
Yes, the cut-off for UCEED will be released separately for each round of seat allotment. Candidates who meet the cut-off criteria in their respective categories will be considered for admission to the B. Des programme. Also, the cut-off for each round will be different for various categories like OPEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, etc. Candidates who meet the cut-off criteria for the category in a specific round will be eligible for admission to the B. Des programme. In case of candidates who fail to meet the cut-off in the first few rounds will be considered for admission in subsequent rounds.
