MHT CET 2026 exam will start tomorrow. The engineering entrance exam is scheduled to take place from April 11 to 20 (exclusing April 12) with a total of 18 shifts. The test is conducted in two shifts; the total time duration of the exam is three hours. Candidates can refer to MHT CET 2026 shift timings to stay updated with the schedule and reporting time.

The easiest shift in MHT CET 2026 mainly refers to the shift that has the most straight-forward questions. It can also mean that the majority of questions are direct, formula-based and theory-heavy. With the help of the MHT CET easiest shift-wise paper analysis 2026, candidates will get an idea about the topics to target, so that they take no time attempting questions. 

But here’s a catch: now that the shift is easier, a major pool of students will score good marks, due to which percentile can go high.

MHT CET 2026 PCM Difficulty Level Predictions by Experts Based on Last Year

Based on last year’s paper analysis, here’s what experts have predicted regarding MHT CET 2026 exam for PCM groups -

  • Overall, the difficulty level of the MHT CET question paper will remain moderate. It was because, last year (in most of the shifts), the number of difficult questions was less. 
  • Students can expect repetition of questions in majority of shifts, as per the experts.
  • Candidates can expect at least 4 to 5 difficult questions (tricky and lengthy) in each MHT CET 2026 shift. 

Candidates appearing for the Maharashtra Engineering Entrance exam must be aware of the exam dates and reach the test centre before time. Along with MHT CET admit card 2026, they must carry a valid ID proof, such as PAN card, Voter ID, ID proof issued by recent school or college, etc.

MHT CET Previous Year Paper Analysis

Last year, MHT CET for PCM was held from April 19 to 27. Candidates can check the MHT CET paper analysis of few shifts below -

Was moderately tough. Had tricky and lengthy questions. 

Topics covered: 3D geometry, vectors, differential equations, trigonometry, relations and functions

Overall, a balanced question paper with conceptual and numerical questions. Topics covered: laws of motion, current electricity, magnetism, wave optics, etc. 

Chemistry was direct and scorable. Questions were mostly NCERT-based. Topics covered: co-ordination compounds, p and d-block elements, redox reactions, states of matter, etc. 

April 20

Moderate to tough with few challenging questions. Strong fundamentals were required. Topics covered: calculus, probability, vectors, 3D geometry, and matrices

Moderate to tough with formula and concept-based questions. Topics covered: modern physics, current electricity, thermodynamics, optics, etc. 

Easiest section out of three. Balanced set of questions from organic, physics, and inorganic chemistry. 

April 21

Found to be toughest in both the shifts. Shift 1 had more calculus-based questions. While shift 2 had more questions on vector and 3D. 

Moderate to tough level questions. Few questions were high-problem solving. Topics covered: current electricity, rotational dynamics, modern physics, etc. 

Chemistry was the easiest section in both shifts. Topics covered: redox reactions, states of matter, surface chemistry, etc. 

April 22

Maths section was moderate to tough with few challenging questions. Topics covered: differential equations, 3D geometry, vectors, etc.

Physics was easy to moderate. Topics covered: Balmer series, Wave Optics, Logic gates, Oscillations, etc.  

Chemistry was rated the easiest section out of all. Topics covered: solid state, redox reactions, IUPAC nomenclature, co-ordination compounds

As per the information brochure, the MHT CET exam will be similar to the JEE Main exam in terms of difficulty level. However, those who appear for both tests often report that MHT CET is easier as compared to JEE Mains.

Q:   Do I need to attempt all the questions in MHT CET exam?
A: 

It is not compulsory to attempt all the question in MHT CET exam. Students are advised to attempt only those questions for which  they know the correct answer. Questions for which the answer is not sure should be left. However, as there is NO negative marking in MHT CET exam,  questions for which answer is doubtful can be attempted in last. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.
