Is Calculator Allowed in MHT CET?

As per the MHT CET information brochure 2026, candidates are not alowed any calculator in the exam hall while appearing for the MHT CET exam. Students must note that this includes basic calculators, scientific calculators or any other electronic devices. Moreover, there is also no virtual calculator provided in the exam. Instread students will be given rough sheets for calculations.

Why Are Calculators Not Allowed?

The CET Cell has banned the use of any type of calculators. The exam authorities do not allow calculators to ensure a fair exam for all candidates. This will ensure students rely on mental calcultions thus improving their speed and accuracy. Allowing calculators would reduce the focus on mental calculation and problem-solving skills.

Are Virtual Calculators Provided?

A virtual calculator helps candidates find square roots, percentages, etc., apart from basic mathematical operations. The CET Cell has also mentioned it will not provide any virtual calculator in MHT CET exam. Students will not get the option of a virtual or on-screen calculator throughout the test. This means, candidates must practice solving numerical problems without using a calculator during their preparation.

How to Solve Calculations in the Exam?

Since calculators are not allowed in MHT CET 2026, students must rely on other ways for calculations. This includes:

  • Mental math
  • Rough work on the sheet provided
  • Shortcut techniques

List of Items Not Allowed in MHT CET

Apart from calculators, several other items are also banned inside the exam hall. If any candidate is found carrying such items, strict action may be taken. The list of prohibited items include:
