The registration for JEE Main session 1 is currently open. In this regard, NTA has released the JEE Main FAQs for students to apply for the exam correctly and avoid mistakes. Candidates must check the JEE Main FAQs to know all about the updated process, documents, use of calculator and more.

JEE Main FAQs by NTA

NTA has answered the JEE Mains 2026 FAQs and has published them as a notification at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main FAQs cover questions about eligibility, registration, documents, exam centre allotment, use of calculator and more. The complete list of JEE Main 2026 FAQs by NTA is provided below. We have also compiled the questions by JEE Main exam aspirants on this page itself. The authority will conclude the JEE Main registration 2026 on November 27, 2025. All aspirants must apply for the exam before the last date, as there is no extension to this deadline.

Q. What is the website for the online application form, and what are the helpline number and email ID for JEE Main 2026?
Ans. Website: jeemain.nta.nic.in; Helpline: 011-40759000
Q. When will the JEE Main 2026 Examination be conducted?
Ans. The JEE Main exam date for session 1 is January 21 to 30, 2026. The session 2 exam will be held between April 2 and 9, 2026
Q. How can candidates register for JEE Main 2026?
Ans. Instructions are available in the Information Bulletin under “Important Information and Dates at a Glance” and Appendix IX.
Q. Do candidates have to fill a separate application form for each session?
Ans. Yes. Session 1 and Session 2 require separate forms.
Q. If a candidate did not apply for Session 1, can they apply for Session 2?
Ans. Yes. They can apply when the Session 2 portal opens.
Q. Can candidates appear in only one session?
Ans. Yes. They can appear in one or both. Best score will be used.
Q. Will calculators be allowed during the exam?
Ans. No. Calculators are not permitted.
Q. In qualification details, which registration number should be filled?
Ans. CBSE candidates should enter the number mentioned in the CBSE letters dated Oct 30 and Nov 4, 2025. Other boards may enter Registration/Enrollment/Roll number.
Q. Are DigiLocker documents valid?
Ans. Yes. They can be uploaded.
Q. If a student is appearing for improvement, should they choose “Passed” or “Appearing”?
Ans. They should choose “Passed.”
Q. What is the minimum eligibility or age limit for JEE Main 2026?
Ans. Refer to Chapter 3 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. What is the exam pattern for JEE Main 2026?
Ans. Refer to Para 2.4 of Chapter 2 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. What is the State Code of Eligibility?
Ans. Refer to Para 3.4 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. For foreign national candidates (OCI/PIO), what Pin Code should be filled?
Ans. They must enter 111111.
Q. What if the candidate does not receive an Aadhaar OTP?
Ans. Ensure the Aadhaar-linked mobile number is active.
Q. Will name mismatch between Class 10 marksheet and Aadhaar affect candidature?
Ans. No. It will not affect candidature.
Q. Is APAAR ID mandatory?
Ans. No.
Q. How to capture a live photograph?
Ans. Refer to Step 2, Note 2 of Para 3 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. If the live photo does not match Aadhaar photo, will the application be cancelled?
Ans. NTA will review. Major issues will be communicated.
Q. What eligibility and certificate are required for PwD/PwBD candidates?
Ans. Follow the RPwD Act 2016 and related government memorandums. Also refer Para 4.2.
Q. What is the method of UDID card verification?
Ans. Refer to Note 3, Page 4 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. How can candidates use a scribe?
Ans. Follow guidelines in Chapter 4 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. What is the basis of choice of cities?
Ans. Refer to Para 5.1 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. What are the choices for the medium of the question paper?
Ans. Refer to Para 2.2 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. Is it mandatory to upload the category certificate?
Ans. No. Only the certificate number, issuing authority and date must be entered. If not issued yet, enter receipt details.
Q. Should any documents or confirmation page be sent to NTA?
Ans. No. Nothing should be sent via post, fax, email or hand.
Q. What if JEE dates clash with another exam?
Ans. NTA will not change the allotted date or shift.
Q. How are date and slot assigned?
Ans. Randomly by computer.
Q. Can candidates correct their details or exam city?
Ans. Only selected fields will have a one-time correction window. City change is generally not allowed.
Q. Can a candidate cancel the application form after submission?
Ans. No. It cannot be cancelled or withdrawn.
Q. What to do if the admit card is not received?
Ans. Admit cards must be downloaded from the website. For help: 011-40759000 / 011-69227700
Q. Can a candidate change the exam city/centre after allotment?
Ans. No. It cannot be changed.
Q. What to bring to the exam centre?
Ans. Refer to Para 5.4 of the Information Bulletin.
Q. Can candidates leave early if they finish the exam?
Ans. No. They must remain until the test concludes.
35. How many question papers are there in JEE Main 2026?
Ans. Refer to Para 2.4 of the Information Bulletin.
36. Is there negative marking?
Ans. Refer to Para 2.4 of the Information Bulletin.
37. What is the duration for candidates appearing for both B.Arch and B.Planning?
Ans. Refer to Para 2.5 of the Information Bulletin.
38. What is the duration, timing and shift of the exam?
Ans. Refer to Para 1 under “Important Information and Dates at a Glance.”
39. Does the fee exclude payment gateway charges?
Ans. Yes. Service charges are extra.
40. How can one pay the fee?
Ans. Refer to Step 3 (Fee Payment) and Appendix I.
41. What if the fee payment fails?
Ans. If the Confirmation Page doesn’t appear, pay again. An extra amount will be refunded.
42. How will the Confirmation Page and Score Card be sent?
Ans. They will be emailed to candidates and parents.

No. The JEE Mains emphasizes on deep knowledge and quote challenging with negative marking whereas KCET is moderately difficult which emphasizes on direct factual questions with no negative markings.
