JEE Main Counselling and Admission Process in NITs and IIITs

Candidates might me aware that the process of admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs is carried out by Joint Seat Allotcation Authority, also called JoSAA. JEE Main counselling or JoSAA counselling is organized as a single window admission process for NITs, IIITs, GFTIs as well as some other institutes which offer admission on the basis of JEE marks.

For admission in any of the institutes through JoSAA, candidates have to register online and fill their choices of branch. The allotment of seats is then carried out online on the basis of ranks in JEE Main. Different institutes and their specializations like Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering etc. are filled under different ranks. Marks required also varies with the category of students (Gen, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, PwD) under which admission is given.

No. The JEE Mains emphasizes on deep knowledge and quote challenging with negative marking whereas KCET is moderately difficult which emphasizes on direct factual questions with no negative markings.
