It is mandatory to have minimum 75% marks (65% for reserved category) in class 12 to take admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Candidates should apply for JoSAA conselling only if they fulfill all the conditions of eligibility. However, many institutes admit students on the basis of JEE Main where there is no requirement of minimum marks in class 12.
NITs admit students with JEE Main ranks up to around 10,00,000 in the open and gender-neutral categories. It is a bit difficult. IIITs admit candidates with JEE Main ranks up to around 54,000 in the open and gender-neutral categories. They primarily offer popular courses such as Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Information Technology to candidates with ranks above 25,000 in JEE Mains.
JoSAA counselling will start on June 3, a day after the JEE Advanced 2025 result is announced. The dates for JoSAA 2025 has been announced on the official website of JoSAA - josaa.nic.in. The counselling will include atleast 6 rounds of seat allotment.
A JEE rank of more than 70,000 is typically regarded as low, and applicants frequently give up on getting into the NITs and B.Tech programmes of their choice. The good news is that a number of universities, such as NITs and IIITs, accept JEE Main low scores up to 2,000,000. Yes, there are chances. CFTIs admit JEE Main candidates with ranks up to round 10,50,000 in the open and gender-neutral categories. They offer courses like Food Technology and Management, Dairy Engineering, Handloom and Textile Technology, and others to candidates with ranks above 1 lakh.
JoSAA 2025 counselling choice filling last date is June 12. Note that, once the JoSAA choice filling window closes candidates will not be allowed to edit the choice list. This means candidates will not be able to change the order of the selected choices or add any more course in or delete any course from the choice list after the deadline for choice filling.

If a candidate has been allotted seat in the first round of JoSAA, only then the seat acceptance fee (SAF) has to be paid. SAF is to be paid to confirm the seat as soon as the seat is allotted. If the SAF is not paud, then the candidate will not be eligible for document verification.
