For any competitive examination such as GATE, we have to focus points on high scoring topics, topic-wise weightage, important formulae etc.
GATE is a nationwide examination which is conducted across the country. The main purpose of GATE examination is to test the students’ knowledge and understanding their skills regarding the undergraduate level subjects in the stream of engineering and sciences.
Focus Points
For any competitive examination such as GATE, we have to focus points on high scoring topics, topic-wise weightage, important formulae etc. Coming to general topics, Aptitude and Engineering mathematics carry 30% of the total marks, so both are important topics, and we have to focus more on these subjects. Taking mock tests will help you to adapt to the environment of online exam pattern and knowing how to use virtual calculator is also important. Moreover, 70% of total marks occupy subject section. Here I am explaining about ECE weightage, but understand that it is not exact weightage and it may or may not vary and this analysis is based on the last 8 years(from 2012 to 2019). - The combined effect of stress, anxiety and pressure may show some disadvantages regarding your performance in the last week. To avoid all these things. Be calm and have a peace of mind
- Please keep in mind that the last week preparation & strategy must be different from the whole year
- Give mock test daily and try to avoid mistakes. Refer and revise running notes and self-made notes such as key concepts
- Don’t try to read new topics, because they may effect on old topics (you may forget old topics, you may get tensed by seeing and learning new topics etc.)
- Revise formulae, flow charts and diagram thoroughly. Revise formulae as many times as you can
- The priority must be on General aptitude and engineering mathematics because they are scoring topics
- Check whether you are good with online pattern and virtual calculator and practice them, because they may help you at the time of real examination to save your time
- Try to build up your confidence levels
Self-evaluation
Self -evaluation is the utmost step for success. Give as many mocks as you can. And try to know the exact answer and the process of wrong response. Don’t appear for exam with a mind full of doubts. Collect previous papers and practice them, not only practice but write mock examinations too. Because sample papers may help you by repeating the exact models. Examine yourself after every mock results and check whether your score is improving or not. Smart work is important during last week preparation.
