Candidates interested in applying for management trainee posts had to submit their application form by September 24 (11:59 pm). What is UCIL?

The UCIL, also known as the Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) is a Public Sector Undertaking that is etasblished under the Department of Atomic Energy. The PSU offers exciting career options for engineering graduates who have qualified for the GATE exam. Every year, the UCIL shortlists candidates for Graduate Executive Trainee posts based on their GATE scores, followed by an interview and medical examination. Q:   What is the GATE 2026 eligibility criteria?
A:

The GATE conducting authorities offer strict guidelines for the applicants who want to apply and appear for the GATE. So, if you want to attempt GATE exam this year, you need to go through the criteria first, as the acceptance of the application form entirely depends on it. 

Here is a generic information about the GATE eligibility. However, regarding the educational qualifications, the criteria is different for each stream. 

  • There is no age limit or attempt limit for GATE
  • Candidates who are in third year or in final year of graduation can apply for GATE
  • Passed out bachelor's graduate are also eligible to appear for the exam.
  • Graduates from BA/BSc/B.Com can also apply for GATE.
  • Accepted streams include -engineering, technology, science, architecture, commerce, science, arts, and humanities.
  • Indians and international students from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and UAE are also eligible to apply for GATE.
Q:   Can I opt for any paper in the GATE two paper combination list?
A:

No, applicants cannot opt for any paper from the combination list. Candidates can only select from the options provided by the GATE authorities in the GATE 2026 paper combination list. For example, a CS student has the free will to choose from the following set of exam papers: DA, EC, GE, MA, PH, and ST. 

Q:   Can commerce students apply for GATE exam?
A:

Yes, candidates having qualifying degree in B.Com can apply for GATE exam to get admission to the master's programmes in IITs and IISc. Candidates must go through the GATE information brochure carefully before applying. Also, students in 3rd year or final year in commerce are also eligible for GATE.

UCIL Recruitment through GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria

To apply for UCIL jobs through GATE 2025 scores, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria -

  • Must have a full-time BE or BTech degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as mining, electrical, or chemical from a recognised/approved institute or university. 
  • Must have a minimum qualifying mark of 60% in their graduation. 5% relaxation is applicable for the reserved categories.
  • Applicants must have appeared in the relevant GATE 2025 paper that is required for the UCIL recruitment. 
  • The maximum age of the applicant must be 28 years for the general category. However, relaxations as per the government norms is applicable for the reserved category. 
Q:   What is the GATE eligibility for Architecture students?
A:

The GATE eligibility for architecture students are -

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in architecture (5 years course)
  • Naval architecture (4-years course) or 
  • Must have pursued B.Planning (4-year course)

Candidates must ensure that they go through the GATE eligibility criteria carefully before applying. 

Q:   What are the eligible paper codes for GATE Computer Science and Engineering?
A:

The eligible GATE paper codes (for two paper combinations) in GATE computer Science and engineering are -

  • Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA)
  • Electronics and Communication (EC)
  • Geomatics Engineering (GE)
  • Mathematics (MA)
  • Physics (PH) and 
  • Statistics (ST)

Candidates must be careful with the GATE paper codes while filling out the application form. 

Q:   For how many GATE papers can I apply and how much will I have to pay?
A:

You can apply for two GATE papers (maximum). While filling out the GATE application form, you need to select the primary and secondary paper. The GATE secondary paper must be from the subject list prescribed by the GATE authorities. Before adding the paper, go through the subject combination list and GATE paper codes. 

Candidates opting for two GATE papers will have to pay double the fees mentioned -

For example,  

  • If a general category candidate is applying for two GATE papers, then he/she has to pay a fee of INR 4000 (during the regular timeline) and INR 5000 (during the extended period).
  • The same applies to the female, SC, ST, and PwD category candidates, INR 2000 (during the regular time period) and INR 3000 (during the extended period).

UCIL will be selecting candidates based on GATE 2025 scores only for management trainee posts. To apply for UCIL GATE recruitment, candidates must have passed the minimum educational qualification and the GATE examination in the relevant GATE paper code at the time of registration.

  • Only GATE 2025 scores are valid for recruitment.
  • Based on GATE 2025 marks, candidates will be shortlisted for a personal interview.
  • If there is more than one candidate with the same cutoff marks, then the candidate with the same marks will be shortlisted for the personal interview.
  • The final selection process will be in the order of merit based on the total marks scored by the candidate out of 100 marks. 
  • The total marks out of 100 marks will be calculated by assigning 80% of the weightage to the GATE 2025 score and 20% weightage to the personal interview, ensuring due reservation.

How to Apply for UCIL recruitment through GATE 2025?

The step-by-step process to apply for UCIL GATE 2025 recruitment is as follows -

  • Visit the official website of UCIL (recruitment portal)
  • Check all the instructions, list of documents before applying.
  • Fill out the details in the UCIL GATE application form and pay the application fee of INR 500 (for general category). Female and reserved category are exempted from payment of application fees. 
  • Submit the application form and keep a copy.

Ensure that the registered mobile number and email address are active throughout the recruitment process. 

UCIL Recruitment through GATE: Documents to be Submitted Online and Submitted at the time of Written Test/Personal Interview

Candidates are requested to upload online and produce the following documents at the time of verification, along with the self-attested photocopies, whenever called for the next stage of selection. 

  • Class 10th (high school certificate)
  • Statement of marks and certificates (educational qualifications)
  • A valid category certificate 
  • PwD certificate
  • GATE 2025 scorecard
  • Application fee acknowledgement receipt.

UCIL Pay Scale and Benefits

Selected candidates through UCIL recruitment via GATE 2025 will join as Management Trainees with a pay scale of ₹40,000. After successful completion of the training period, candidates will be recruited as Assistant Managers with following benefits -

No, a duplicate GATE 2026 admit card will not be provided at the test center. Candidates must carry their own admit card along with the mentioned documents and items to the GATE exam center. IIT Guwahati will release the GATE admit card on January 2.
