AILET 2026 is attempted by candidates who wish to take admission in 5-year LLB, LLM or PhD programs at the NLU Delhi. Unlike other NLUs of India, NLU Delhi does not accept the CLAT scores for granting admissions. Once the AILET 2026 application window is closed, the examination cell will issue the AILET admit card 2026 to the registered candidates. Without the AILET admit card, no candidates will be allowed to sit for the exam.
No, candidates were not allowed to appear for the examination without a valid photo ID. Candidates were advised to keep the following three things ready with them, a day before the examination; a valid photo ID proof, AILET admit card 2026, and a recent passport-sized photograph. These were the mandatory documents to be produced during entry to the AILET exam centre. The valid photo identity card which would be allowed at the AILET 2026 exam centre include Aadhaar card/ Driving Licence/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Voter Id. The admit card should also have the passport and postcard-sized photographs pasted on it.
Candidates can submit maximum 3 preferences for AILET centre. Choosing preference for exam centre is mandatory to submit AILET application. AILET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the entrance exam, ensure that you fall within the AILET eligibility criteria to avoid the cancellation of candidature at a later stage.
AILET BA LLB 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Refer to the AILET BA LLB Eligibility Criteria as provided below:
- Candidates applying for the exam must have passed class 12 exams with atleast 45% scores from a recognized institute.
- The relaxation of 5% is there is the qualifying exam for the SC/ST/PwD category candidates; therefore they must score a minimum 40% aggregate score in their class 12.
- However, OBC Category candidates must score a minimum of 42% in their class 12.
- Candidates should note that those who are appearing for their class 12 exams are also eligible to apply for the AILET exam.
- There is no age limit to take up the AILET exam.
AILET PG Eligibility Criteria 2026

- To apply for LLM program entrance exam, candidates must have attained their LLB degree or an equivalent law degree with a minimum 50% scores from a recognized institute.
- However, SC/ST/PwD category candidates must score a minimum 45% aggregate score in their LLB course.
- Candidates who are appearing for their final year/semester of their LLB program are also eligible to appear for the AILET exam.
- There is no age limit to take up the AILET exam.
AILET PhD Eligibility Criteria 2026
No. National Law University (NLU) Delhi only accept online application form for AILET 2026 exam. The application form for AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) is submitted online through the official website. The application process starts with online registration. Candidates have to register on the website, fill in the application form, upload the necessary documents, and pay the application fee online. Before applying online, candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria set by NLU Delhi.
The AILET merit list is released once the counselling begins. NLU Delhi releases the merit list as per the seats and vacancies. The first merit list is released in the last week of December or first week of January. The merit list notification can be checked at the NLU Delhi official website.
NLU Delhi provides admission to its BA LLB and LLM programme based on the AILET 2026 scores. However, all other NLUs in the country accept CLAT scores for providing admission to their courses. Candidates can sit for both the entrance exams to expand their scope of admission.
Candidates aspiring to sit for AILET PhD entrance exam can refer eligibility criteria below:
- Candidates must have completed their LLM program or an equivalent degree exam with a minimum 55% score from a recognized institute.
- SC/ST/PwD category candidates must score a minimum 50% aggregate score in their LLM program.
Steps to Register for AILET 2026
The steps to register for the AILET 2026 are mentioned below:
Online Registration:
The first step to apply for the AILET entrance exam is to fill in the AILET 2026 application form online through the official website. Candidates must ensure to use a valid email ID and phone number and enter all the necessary details, including name, parents' names, academic details, contact details, etc.
Select the Law Course:
The next step while filling in the AILET application form is to select the course in which admission is sought (BA LLB, LLM or PhD).
Fill AILET 2026 Application Form:
Once the information is entered, fill in the other details asked in the AILET examination form, including place of residence, preferred examination centres, etc.
Upload Documents:
At this step, candidates will have to upload the latest scanned photograph and scanned signatures in the required format.
Pay the Application Fee:
The final step during the AILET application form submission is to pay the application fee through the online mode and submit the application form.
