Candidates who will be appearing for the MAT exam on March 8, must be fully aware of the dos and don’ts of the exam day in order to have a hassle free experience and can perform to their optimum capability. MAT 2026 will be held in CCTV surveillance, to ensure there are no irregularities at the examination centres. There are certain actions and items that are prohibited at the MAT centre, candidates must be fully aware of. So, ahead of MAT 2026 exam day, check below some important MAT 2026 exam day guidelines and dos and don’ts that candidates need to follow.
MAT Exam Day Guidelines - Dos
- Reporting time will be given to every student to ensure identification process is completed without rush and crowding. Reach the MAT exam centre on time.
- Carry a colour print out of the MAT 2026 admit card, and original copy of a photo ID issued by the government of India.
- It is mandatory for all MAT test takers to carry a valid photo identification proof. Check below the list of documents that considered as valid photo id proof for the test day.
- Passport
- Voter ID card
- Aadhaar card
- PAN card
- Driving license
- Employer ID card
- College ID card
- At the entry gate, the MAT staff will check MAT admit card and photo ID. Candidates will be frisked for security purpose. They should co-operate with the test centre staff in this process.
- Items such as bags, mobile phones, watches, books, wallets, electronic gadgets, notebooks, etc. will not be allowed inside the exam centre. So, carry only those items that are mentioned in the MAT admit card 2026.
- Carry only a blue ballpoint pen as stationary for signing the attendance sheet. For PBT mode, the pen will be required for filling the OMR sheet.
- Complete the test on time. MAT is of 120 minutes without sectional time limit. So divide time for all 5 sections accordingly in order to not miss out on any section.

- After security frisking, the invigilator will sign the MAT 2026 admit card of each test taker. No test taker should sign on their admit card before this process.
- Candidates should not indulge in any kind of malpractice. In case, any candidate is found breaking the code of conduct, they will be strictly penalized.
- Carrying rough sheet/sheets inside the exam hall is strictly prohibited. Sheets for rough work will be provided inside the test lab.
- Do not carry electronic items such as phones, watches, bluetooth device, ear phones, pager, ipad, etc.
- Do not select more than one options to mark answers. Such entries will be deemed invalid.
- Do not create problems for the staff at the time of identification and frisking. Cooperate with them. You may be barred from the exam for unruly behavior.
- Do not disturb other candidates or peep into their computer systems/OMR sheet. You will be disqualified for that.
- Do not insist on leaving the test lab before time. Invigilator will announce the exit process and candidates are supposed to leave the test hall only after that and as per the sequence.
- Drop the rough sheet in the box before leaving the test lab.

The percentile needed for admission would depend on the category you belong to. JAGSoM accepts various entrance examinations for admission to the MBA/PGDM course, like CAT, XAT, MAT, etc.
As per the estimated XAT cutoff in 2026, a percentile of 70 would be good enough to secure a chance at admission

You don't strictly need CAT to get into GIBS Business School. They accept both CAT and MAT scores, but even if you haven't appeared for them, you can still get admission through their direct admission or interview process.

MAT exam duration is 120 minutes or 2 hours. Candidates have to solve 150 questions in the given time limit. There is no sectional time limit in MAT.
