XLRI Interview Question Types & Focus Areas

Based on the analysis of past XLRI interviews, the institute follows a specific interview format based on the candidate’s profile. XLRI interview panel usually ask questions within the categories tabulated below.

Personal Background and Statement of Purpose (SOP)

Panellists frequently begin with basic introductions and questions about the candidate's background. Candidates are expected to defend their hobbies and interests mentioned in their SOP realistically.

  • Discuss landmarks and the history of your hometown.
  • Compare writing styles of famous authors (this question can be asked if a candidate has mentioned their hobby as reading books).
  • Justification for gap years or low academic scores.
  • Why choose HRM over BM (or vice versa)?
  • How do you describe yourself in five words?

Undergraduate Academics

Panellists test the foundational knowledge of the undergraduate degree, often asking candidates to apply academic concepts to management scenarios.

  • Engineering: Difference between PNP and NPN transistors; Law of Conservation vs. E=mc2.
  • Mathematics: Explaining derivative calculus to a layman using real-world metaphors.
  • Science: Applying Quantum Mechanics or binary distribution to evaluate HR processes.

  • Operational challenges, revenue models, and hiring processes in startups.

Current Affairs and General Knowledge

It might be difficult to get admission at XIME Kohchi with 88% in XAT. The institute accepts a 99.99% in XAT. However, these rules may change in the future; students are recommended to visit the Shiksha official page for the latest updates.
