The NEET 2025 exam was conducted on May 4, 2025. The exam was conducted in a paper-and-pencil-based mode (PBT) in a single day and shift. NEET 2025 Cut Off: Determining Factors
NEET cutoff 2025 are determined based on the following five factors:
- Total number of candidates who appear for the examination: This year, the total number of candidates appearing for NEET 2025 was 23,09,318, and the number of qualifying candidates is 12,36,531. Hence, the competition has decreased from last year.
- Difficulty level of the examination: As stated above, the overall difficulty level of the exam increased compared to the previous years. Hence, the NEET 2025 cutoff also decreased.
- Performance of the candidates: Owing to the high difficulty level of the exam, the highest marks obtained by candidates is 686, unlike 720 in the previous years. In that scenario, the NEET 2025 cutoff has been lowered.
- Number of seats available: The total number of seats available for MBBS and BDS courses is 1,18,190 and 27,868, respectively. As compared to last year, the total number of MBBS seats has increased.
- NEET cutoff for previous years: Last year, the difficulty level of NEET was moderate to tough. As compared to this year, the difficulty level of the exam was very high. Accordingly, the NEET 2025 cutoff has been lowered. Incidentally, the NEET 2024 cutoff was decreased by two marks after the retest was conducted.
