The NEET 2025 exam was conducted on May 4, 2025. The exam was conducted in a paper-and-pencil-based mode (PBT) in a single day and shift. According to the  NEET 2025 analysis, the exam difficulty level was extremely tough. Hence, the NEET 2025 cutoff has been lowered. In fact, some experts had predicted that the chances are low for candidates to score full marks of 720 in NEET 2025, which is also correct, as the highest score obtained is 686. The NEET 2025 counselling process started on July 21, 2025, and the first two rounds have been concluded. Round 3 of NEET Counselling 2025 is underway from September 29, 2025, onwards. The participating institutes release the NEET cutoff ranks after each round of counselling.

Just getting the NEET 2025 cutoff does not guarantee admission to a medical college. Students have to participate in the NEET counselling process, and seats will be allotted based on various factors like choices filled, number of seats available, among others.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   What is the qualifying NEET cut off for General category candidates?
A:

The qualifying NEET 2025 cutoff marks for General category candidates is 144. Last year it was 162. As expected, the NEET 2025 cutoff for General category candidates is lower than last year. The reason is, the difficulty level of NEET was tougher this year as compared to last year. The competition level has become even higher, along with the increase in the number of seats.

Q:   Can I get MBBS admission with a 300 score in NEET?
A:

It is possible to get admission to a private medical college with a score of 300 in NEET. For a government medical college, one should ideally obtain a score above 600. The NEET cutoff for the Government medical colleges varies as per the institute rank and round of counselling. Hence, it can be said that a score of 300 in NEET may not be sufficient for admission to Government medical colleges. As per past years' trends, a score between 500 to 700 or above is in the cutoff marks for NEET.

Q:   What is the cutoff for NEET?
