Q:   Is NEET exam tough for an average student?
A:

NEET exam can be a little tough for average students, given the competition and difficulty level. However, average students can crack the NEET UG exam with disciplined and consistent efforts. Such students should cover the syllabus and practice more and more question papers and NEET mock tests. Check here the NEET 2026 Preparation Plan for Average Students.

Q:   What is the pattern of the NEET exam?
A:

The NEET exam is conducted offline in pen and paper mode. The NEET exam pattern is as such-

  • There are 180 MCQs.
  • 45 are from Physics, 45 from Chemistry and 90 from Biology (Botany and Zoology).
  • Each question is of 4 marks.
  • The total marks are 720.
  • The exam duration is 3 hours.
Q:   How many Sets are there in the NEET question paper?
A:

There are generally four Sets of NEET question papers, which are further segregated into six parts. However, in NEET 2025, there were four sets of the NEET question paper, which were named as 45, 46, 47, and 48, and these were not further divided into six subsets, which was followed till the previous year. The names of the NEET 2024 question paper Sets and codes are Q, R, S and T. For the NEET 2024 re-exam, the question paper sets were A, B, C and D. The multiple Sets and codes in the NEET question papers ensure that there is no malpractice in the conduct of the exam. The names of the Sets and codes of the regional NEET question papers are different from the English ones. While distributing the question papers of NEET invigilators had to ensure that they did not give the same set of question papers to two consecutive candidates. Once candidates are given the NEET question paper by invigilators, they need to check whether the question paper and test booklet, or answer sheet, is of the same code. In case of a mismatch, they need to bring the matter to the invigilator's notice. In case they submit the NEET test booklet with a different code from that of the NEET question paper, their exam will stand cancelled.

FAQs on NEET Question Papers

Check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding NEET question papers.

Q:   What is the correct way of answering the NEET question paper?
A:
Candidates will be provided with OMR sheets. They will have to shade the correct answer option corresponding to each question uniformly with a ballpoint pen which would be provided to them inside the exam hall. They should fill only one answer option circle, otherwise, the response will be considered as wrong and would result in negative marking. They will have to do the rough work on the NEET question paper, in the space provided. While answering the NEET question paper on the OMR sheet, candidates must be careful that they select the correct question number and fill up the correct answer option. There are cases where candidates solve the question and deduce the correct option, but make a mistake while filling the OMR sheet by not checking the question number or the answer option carefully. Such mistakes can cause a negative marking of one mark.
Q:   Is NEET exam syllabus tough?
A:

NEET syllabus is not tough, but a bit challenging due to its vastness. The syllabus of NEET exam is vast, with 20 chapters from Physics, 20 from Chemistry and 10 from Biology. The syllabus is based on the Class 11 and 12 NCERT curriculum. Hence, candidates should cover the complete syllabus to crack the exam.

Q:   Does NTA release all sets of NEET question papers online?
A:

NTA releases the NEET question papers online on the official website of NTA after the conclusion of the admission process of the academic year. However, NTA does not release the NEET question papers of all languages and sets. The exam authorities primarily release the English language question papers followed by Hindi. Till 2021, NTA had released NEET question papers in all languages. In 2022, only three sets of the NEET English question paper were released. In the years 2023 and 2024, NTA had released only English and Hindi question papers.

Q:   Where can I download the previous years NEET question papers?
A:

Aspirants can download the previous years' NEET question papers from Shiksha.com for free. They may also visit the official website of NTA and visit the Downloads section for previous years' NEET question papers. They have to select the year, exam and Sets to check and download the question papers for NEET and other entrance exams conducted by NTA. Moreover, top coaching institutes offering NEET coaching also provide previous years' NEET question papers for the students who enrol to their institute or opt for the mock tests. There are various other social media platforms which circulate NEET question papers of previous years for practice purpose. Students preparing for next year's NEET must ensure that they collect the previous years' question papers and solve those.

Q:   Which section has the highest number of questions in NEET?
A:

The Biology section has the highest number of questions in the NEET examination. There are 360 questions in the NEET UG exam and of these, 90 questions are alone from Biology, which is further divided into Botany and Zoology, each containing 45 questions.

Q:   When is the right time to start solving the NEET question papers for preparation?
A:

Aspirants should start solving the NEET question papers at least six months prior to the exam. Prior to solving the previous years NEET question papers, they should complete the NEET syllabus completely. Students may also solve sectional portions from the NEET question paper after completing the preparation for each subject. Ideally students should solve the NEET question paper in the exam timing, from 2 PM to 5 PM, without any break. This would help them get adjusted to the exam taking environment. Moreover, the test should be taken without any break. It must also be ensured that they take the test in a quite environment either alone or with a group of fellow NEET aspirants. Creating a simulated test-taking experience is important. The above factors must be followed to get the best out of the NEET question paper.

Q:   Do all the Sets of NEET question papers carry the same questions?
A:

Although the questions are the same in all Sets of the NEET question paper, the order of the sections and questions vary from set to set. The different order of the sections and questions ensure that there is no malpractice conducted during the exam. Even if some questions are absolutely different in separate Sets or languages, the topics and chapters covered and difficulty level remain similar to ensure normalisation. Hence, it can be said that NTA Sets a common question paper carrying 200 questions, after which the questions are distributed across four Sets and six subsets of the NEET question paper. The subjects, and the questions within the subjects are shuffled for each of the NEET question paper Sets. This allows a parity in terms of topics covered and difficulty level, as well as allows avoidance of malpractice.

Q:   I want to select English as the language of my NEET question paper. Which city should I choose?
A:

You can choose any exam centre of NEET if you have opted for English medium question paper. English is available at all centres across the country. English is a universal language and the NEET question paper medium. The exam city selection option becomes limited once candidates choose a regional language, except Hindi. Apart from the medium of the question factor, the other factor that plays a role in the NEET exam centre city selection is the permanent and present address selected by candidates during the application process.

Q:   Does NTA release NEET answer keys and question papers together?
A:

No, the National Testing Agency (NTA) does not release NEET answer keys and question papers together. While releasing the NEET provisional result, NTA releases candidates' OMR sheets. The final NEET answer key is released in the form of a single PDF document, carrying the keys for all sets of the NEET question papers. The hardcopy of the NEET question papers are given by NTA on the day of the exam. Being a paper-pencil based test, candidates are allowed to carry the question papers outside the exam hall. In general, NTA releases the NEET question papers of previous years on its official website few months after the exam is conducted. NTA has released the NEET 2023 question papers of English and Hindi languages. However, the NEET 2022 question papers are not available on the official website yet. It is expected that the question papers of NEET 2022 will be released soon.

Q:   What is the ideal time and method to take NEET mock tests?
A:

Candidates must ensure that they take the NEET mock test in a proctored manner within a simulated environment. Hence, ideally students should take mock test in the exam timing, from 2 PM to 5 PM, without any break. This would help them get adjusted to the exam taking environment. Moreover, the test should be taken without any break. It must also be ensured that they take the test in a quite environment either alone or with a group of fellow NEET aspirants. Creating a simulated test-taking experience is important. While a number of students take the NEET mock tests at coaching institutes, some prefer to take it at their home. Irrespective of the location, the above factors must be followed to get the best out of the NEET mock test.

Q:   What if I am given a NEET question paper in a language I did not opt for?
A:

In case you are handed a NEET question paper in a language you have not opted for, you must report the matter immediately to the invigilator. You are advised to request the NEET exam centre invigilator to replace the NEET question paper with that of your preferred laguage immediately to avoid loss of time. In case of a query or confusion, crosscheck the NEET question paper language mentioned on your NEET admit card. You should not start attempting the questions until and unless you receive correct NEET question paper set or medium. It might also be a possiblity that you have entered a wrong exam hall or seat. Hence, you must ensure that you enter the correct exam hall or room number in the NEET exam centre and take the correct seat number.

Q:   What if I find a question that is out of the syllabus or with wrong answer options in the NEET question paper?
A:
In such a scenario, test-takers should report the question or questions to the invigilator or exam authorities and not attempt the question. The exam authorities will review the questions and in case the doubt is confirmed, marks will be rewarded to all candidates. It is advised to candidates that in case candidates come across such a question, they should move ahead and attempt other questions in accordance with the number of questions to be attempted. Attempting extra questions will not fetch any extra marks. Hence, test-takers must select the questions carefully. In case after raising objections it is found out that the question or the answer option is wrong, then NTA will award marks to all candidates. NTA has identified and shared the marking scheme for such situations: a. If more than one option is found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options. B. If all options are found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. C. If a question is found to be incorrect or the Question is dropped then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.
Q:   I want to choose Marathi as the medium for NEET Question Paper. Can I choose Delhi as my NEET exam centre?
A:

No, NTA has notified language-wise exam city demarcation. Regional languages are restricted by geographical boundaries. Hence, if you want to choose Marathi as the medium of examination, you will have to choose a NEET test centre in Maharashtra or other Marathi speaking states such as Goa or Gujarat. Another situation where you can select the NEET exam city in Delhi while opting for NEET Marathi question paper is to give a Delhi address as your permanent or present address. Candidates choosing Delhi as a NEET exam centre can choose English Hindi Punjabi and Urdu question paper mediums.
