What after the NID result?

After the release of the NID DAT Result, the following process will take place.

After NID Prelims Result: NID Stage 2 Exam is conducted for the shortlisted candidates.
After NID Mains Results: NID rechecking window opens, followed by NID Seat Allotment, Campus Preference and Fee Payment.
NID Cutoff is released.
NID Offer Letter is released to the candidates who have cleared all the rounds.

How will the NID DAT 2026 Final Merit List be prepared?

The National Institute of Design will release category-wise common FINAL merit lists by considering the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate in DAT Mains. The NID DAT 2026 merit list was released for the Open, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories.

Important Points About NID DAT 2026 Final Merit List

NID DAT final merit lists for NID Ahmedabad will be generated category-wise (Open, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD) and as per merit, based on the scores obtained by the candidate in the DAT Mains.
Separate merit list will be prepared for Overseas candidates for B.Des. programme.
NIDs will use the score of the DAT Mains for admission to their respective institution. If seats remain vacant, independent NIDs may conduct additional DAT Mains Exam for admission to vacant seats in their respective campuses.
Hard copies of the NID Merit Rank or scorecard will not be sent.

NID DAT 2026 Result - Tie-Break Policy

The following tie-break policy will be used to determine the merit ranks of candidates if they secure similar scores in DAT Prelims.

Tie-break policy for B.Des program

Higher rank to be given to the aspirants who have secured higher marks in Part B of DAT Prelims
If a tie still exists, then a higher rank is to be given to the aspirants who have secured higher marks in Part A of the DAT Prelims
If the tie still exists, then both candidates will be given the same rank

Tie-break policy for the M.Des program

A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part II/Part III).
If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part I).
If this still does not break the tie, then both candidates will be assigned the same rank.

NID DAT 2026 Result (Mains) - Tie-Break Policy

The following tie-break policy will be used to determine the merit ranks of candidates if they secure similar scores in DAT Mains.

Tie-break Policy for B.Des program

In case the total marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks in the final merit list:

Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in TEST I: Studio Sensitivity
If the tie still persists, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Studio Sensitivity Test Question 3
If the tie continues, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Studio Sensitivity Test Question 1
If the tie is still not resolved, the same rank will be allotted to candidates.

Tie-break Policy for M.Des program

In case the total marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks in the final merit list:

Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Interview.
If the tie is still not resolved, the same rank will be allotted to candidates.
