40% of Aspirants Uncertain of Clearing Cutoff for JEE Advanced; JEE Main Session 2 Registration Ends Tomorrow
Shiksha conducted a poll targeting JEE aspirants, highlighting that the majority of the candidates are looking forward to JEE Main 2025 session 2 exam to improve their scores to meet the JEE Main 2025 cutoff for JEE Advanced. It is important to note that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be closing the registration for JEE Main Session 2 tomorrow, February 25. Further details can be found below.
The JEE Main 2025 session 2 application form submission window will be closing tomorrow, February 25, at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Recent findings from a Shiksha poll reveal that 40% of respondents plan to retake the JEE Main exam in April to enhance their scores, as they are uncertain about meeting the JEE Main 2025 cutoff for the JEE Advanced exam, necessary for IIT admissions. JEE Advanced serves as the second-tier assessment following JEE Main and is open to the top 2.5 lakh candidates who meet the JEE Main 2025 cutoff criteria. The JEE Advanced 2025 examination is scheduled for May 18, with registration commencing on April 23. On the other hand, the JEE Main Session 2 is scheduled to take place from April 1 to 8, with specific exam dates anticipated to be announced shortly.
23% of the JEE Aspirants Confident of Clearing JEE Main Cutoff for JEE Advanced 2025
The Shiksha poll results indicate that 23% of participants are now concentrating on their preparation for the JEE Advanced 2025, expressing confidence in their ability to meet the necessary cutoff to qualify for the examination. Last year's JEE Main cutoff scores for entry into JEE Advanced 2025 were as follows: 93.2362181 for Unreserved (UR); 79.6757881 for Other Backward Classes (OBC); 81.3266412 for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS); 0.0018700 for UR-Persons with Disabilities (PWD); 60.0923182 for Scheduled Castes (SC); and 46.6975840 for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
The survey posed the question, "Are you confident of clearing the JEE Main cutoff for JEE Advanced 2025?" and was conducted before the announcement of the Session 1 results, receiving a total of 8,564 responses. The outcome was as follows: 40% of respondents indicated they would reappear in April; 23% expressed a shift in focus towards JEE Advanced; 17% stated they were awaiting the Session 1 results; 5% revealed they did not participate in Session 1; and 15% planned to apply for the April session.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) published the results for JEE Main 2025 Session 1 on February 11. Subsequently, the results for Paper 2 of JEE Main 2025 Session 1 were released on February 23. In the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) category, Patne Neel Sandesh from Maharashtra achieved the highest score, while in the Bachelor of Planning (B.Planning) category, Sunidhi Singh secured the top position.
There are two types of Joint Entrance Examination Advanced cutoffs: qualifying and admission cutoffs.
The qualifying cutoff is released with the result. Last year, the cutoff marks were 74 marks for the Common Rank List (CRL); 66 for GEN-EWS rank list & OBC rank list; 37 marks for SC, ST and PWD rank lists; and 18 marks for Preparatory course rank lists.
The admission cutoff will be released during the seat allotment process by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The admission cutoff is released round-wise in the form of closing ranks for all courses and categories.
