IIT Jammu so far has not gotten ranked by NIRF for the Engineering category owing to the fact that it is still too new among all IITs. IIT Jammu cutoff 2026 has been declared for the first round regarding admission to the MSc course. The cutoff was released for different All India categories based on IIT JAM entrance exam.
For the General AI category, candidates needed to secure a rank ranging between 621 and 705. The lower the rank is from 705, the higher the chances of admission.

IIT Jammu offers a two-yearM.Techprogramme across six specialisations. Admission to this course is based on a GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Eligible students seeking admission must qualify for the entrance exam for admission to IIT Jammu. As mentioned, candidates who wish to apply to theM.Techprogramme must have a valid GATE score. However, candidates are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE score and then the shortlisted ones are further called for a written test and interview for final seat allotment process.
The application fee per department is INR 300 for General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC category and INR 200 for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates. This amount is completely non-refundable. Candidates can deposit the requisite application fee by using net banking or debit/credit card facilities. Additional charges are applicable as per the rule of the concerned bank. The fee is, however, not accepted through any other mode.

IIT Jammu has released its placement highlights for 2025. The highest and lowest package recorded during IIT Jammu MTech placements 2025 was INR 48 LPA and INR 5 LPA, respectively. While, the highest average package for MTech was INR 24.96 LPA.
For Btech, the highest average package recorded was for CSE which stood at INR 26.6 LPA. The average package for Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering was INR 10.5 LPA and INR 9.5 LPA, respectively. - BTech/ BS - To be eligible fpr BTech and BS at IIT Jammu, students must pass Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The final selection is based on JEE Main + JEE Advanced. For final seat allotment in BTech course, students must participate in JoSAA Counselling.
- MTech - For MTech admission, BE/ BTech/ MSc in relevant discipline with at least 60%-65% aggregate (5% relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ PwD/ EWS candidates) is required along with valid GATE scores + COAP Counselling.
- MSc - To get admission to an MSc programme at IIT Jammu, students must qualify for the IIT JAM (Joint Admission test for Masters) examination, meet the minimum undergraduate requirements, and participate in the centralised JAM counseling process for seat allocation.
