IIT Jammu launched a BSc programme in Behavioral Sciences and Predictive Analytics to offer an interdisciplinary approach to understanding human behaviour through data-driven insights.

IIT Jammu BSc in Behavioral Sciences and Predictive Analytics

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has introduced a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences and Predictive Analytics (BSBSPA), an interdisciplinary undergraduate programme developed by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. Candidates eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 can apply through the online application portal for this programme.

The programme combines key concepts from psychology, cognitive science, behavioural economics, and sociology with tools from data science, statistics, and predictive modelling. It aims to help students understand human behaviour both at the individual level and within broader social systems, using data-driven approaches to support better decision-making.

The four-year Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences and Predictive Analytics (BSBSPA) programme, offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Jammu, embodies a progressive approach to education in line with the vision of NEP 2020. Blending the study of human behaviour with cutting-edge analytical tools, the programme offers a unique interdisciplinary learning experience tailored to today’s data-driven and dynamic professional landscape.

In the first two years, students receive core training that builds a strong foundation across Behavioral Sciences, Neurosciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Programming, Data Science, Machine Learning, Psychology, and Cognitive Sciences.

In the third and fourth years, the focus shifts to advanced and specialization courses in areas such as Data Science, Machine Learning, Behavioral Sciences, Business Strategy, Psychology, Economics, and Humanities, along with hands-on projects related to policy-making and real-world applications.

This programme combines behavioural sciences with predictive analytics to help students understand and predict human behaviour in real-world contexts. It addresses key social challenges like mental health, inequality, consumer behaviour, and public policy. With a strong focus on both theory and practical application, students learn research methods and predictive modelling, preparing them to design impactful, data-driven interventions and contribute to both academia and industry.
