IIT Kanpur has concluded the Phase 1 of the placement session for the Class of 2026. According  to the report, the participating recruiters presented 1202 offers to the students of the batch 2026.

IIT Kanpur tuition fee costs around INR 2,000 – INR 13.5 L. This fee is exclusive of other components such as examination fee, application fee, hostel fee, security deposit, etc. This fee is taken from the official website. It is subject to change. Hence, it is moderately costly.

IIT Kanpur BTech offers a 100% tuition fee waiver for SC/ST students. Students belonging to MEB and OEB categories may also receive partial or full tuition fee concessions based on annual family income as per institute rules and verification.

Students-Undergraduate Research Graduate Excellence (SURGE) is an internship programme of IIT Kanpur. The programme is offered to the three categories - SAARC students, Non-IITK students, and IIT Kanpur students. No, you can't get admission in IIT Kanpur with 60% in Class 12. The institute accepts students who have a minimum of 75% (for general category) in Class 12. Even for the reserved categories, the minimum score is 65%. Hence, 60% is not enough to get admission in IIT Kanpur UG courses.

In order to apply for BS at IIT Kanpur, candidates are required to go through the official application of JEE Main followed by applying for JEE Advanced. Candidates seeking admission to BS at IIT Kanpur must have a valid score in JEE Main, JEE Advanced and go through JoSAA counselling for final admission. Admission is completely entrance exam-based and candidates seeking admission can not get into IIT Kanpur with only the scores of JEE Main. JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling is the mandatory requirement. Additionally, to be eligible for the BSc programme, students are required to have passed their Class 12 with at least 75% aggregate with Science subjects (i.e., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). 

IIT Kanpur accepts JEE Advanced ranks for admission to the BTech and other courses. JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 has been released for admission to IIT Kanpur. The round 1 cutoff for the General AI category candidates is ranged between 270 and 9662. the lowest rank one can achieve is,  270 for B.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering for the General All India category candidates. In addition to that, CSE was the most competitive course among all the courses. Similarly, for the OBC AI category candidates, the CSE still having the lowest rank of 142. NTA announced JEE Main 2024 dates. NTA coducted the JEE Main 2024 exam in two sessions. JEE Main 2024 exam date session 1 was January 24 to February 1 while the second session was held from April 4 to 15. For session 2, NTA released application form on February 2.

Admission criteria to IIT Kanpur is both, merit and entrance based. The eligibility criteria to get into IIT Kanpur programmes is graduation in any discipline (this may vary from course to course) with a minimum aggregate of 55-60%, along with entrance exams. For UG courses, candidates need to acquire a minimum aggregate of 60-75% in Class 12, along with valid entrance scores.
