The Health Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has launched a lecture series for its Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. This initiative aims to significantly improve patient care by updating and refining the skills and knowledge of medical officers and paramedical staff. The lecture series serves as a platform for medical professionals to stay abreast of the latest advancements in healthcare, ensuring they can deliver the highest standard of care.

It also seeks to foster stronger collaboration between the Health Centre and external referral services, ultimately enhancing the overall healthcare delivery system. Through this program, IIT Kanpur’s Health Centre is reinforcing its commitment to maintaining excellence in medical services, ensuring that both staff and patients benefit from the most current practices and knowledge in the field.

The program kicked off with a lecture by Dr. Yuvraj Gulati, a nephrologist, who addressed the screening and prevention of common kidney diseases. Professor Vikas Mishra from the Department of Microbiology at GSVM Medical College shed light on the various aspects of needle stick injuries during clinical practice. Dr. Harit Chaturvedi, Head of Oncosurgery at Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, along with Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi, Oncoplastic Surgeon at the same institution, provided valuable insights on breast cancer screening and the latest advancements to tackle cancer-related challenges.

In the following sessions, Dr. Vivek Saxena, a pediatrician, delivered a comprehensive analysis on managing fever in pediatric patients, addressing both routine and complex cases. Dr. Abhinit Gupta, a cardiologist, shared critical insights into handling cardiac emergencies in primary care, with a focus on practical approaches and timely interventions. Dr. Shekhar Rastogi, an ophthalmologist, discussed eye emergencies specific to the IIT Kanpur community, particularly among students, emphasizing prevention and emergency response strategies. Lastly, Dr. Pawan Singh, a dermatologist, covered common skin conditions, offering practical guidance on diagnosis and treatment to improve dermatological care.
