The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) has made a significant advancement in data management with the introduction of its state-of-the-art web portal, 'Nivahika.' Inaugurated by NITC Director Prof. Prasad Krishna during a ceremony at the Senate Hall, this portal is poised to transform the Institute's data handling and reporting processes.
The development of Nivahika was overseen by the Dean (Planning & Development) office, with critical support from the Centre for Information Technology, Research and Automation (CITRA), the Computer Networking Centre (CNC), and the Central Computer Centre (CCC). The portal is designed for the systematic and timely recording of key activities from various departments and multidisciplinary centres, ensuring that crucial data is accessible at all times.
"The ministry often requests detailed reports and updates on our activities. With Nivahika, we now have a reliable tool that ensures accuracy and consistency, aiding in everything from ministry submissions to national rankings," said Prof. Krishna. He emphasised that Nivahika is not just a milestone for NITC but could also set a benchmark for other National Institutes of Technology (NITs) across the country once fully operational.

"Nivahika will not only streamline the availability of institutional data but will also provide secure access to authorized personnel," said Prof. Priya Chandran, Dean (Planning and Development). She further noted that the portal’s automated report-generation capability marks a significant advancement in how the institute handles data.
Hosted within the NITC campus, Nivahika offers access to the Director, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments (HoDs), and Centre Chairpersons through personalized user accounts. "The diverse demands for reports from various departments and external agencies are now met with ease, thanks to the portal's automated features," remarked Prof. S. D.
