SSC GD Question Paper 2024: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducted the SSC GD Constable exam 2024 exam from February 20 to March 7, 2024. The Commission prepared different sets of SSC GD question papers 2024 for each exam shift. The Commission did not issue the question papers in printed form. However, candidates who appeared for the exam provided their feedback regarding the exam difficulty level, topics from which questions are asked and memory-based questions. Based on the candidates’ feedback and review, we have shared here the memory-based questions and answers below.

Q:   How many questions are there in SSC GD exam?
A:

In the SSC GD Constable exam, a total of 80 questions are asked. Each question carries two marks and there is negative marking.

 Alexander the Great invaded India in 326 BC. This invasion was a part of his Indian campaign that started in 327 BC and lasted until 325 BC.

4. India is at what position in the world in terms of area?

India is in 7th position in terms of area. India is the seventh largest country in the world.

5. Minimum age limit to become the Governor in India

 A person must be at least 35 years old to be appointed as a Governor, as per Article 157 of the Indian Constitution. The Governor is appointed by the President for a five-year term.

6. Freedom of Press in India

Article 19(1)(a) of the Indian Constitution talks about freedom and expression of speech with freedom of the press in its ambit. It encourages independent journalism and promotes democracy by allowing the people to voice their opinions.

7. Paika dance

It is a traditional dance form in Jharkhand. Paika dance is mainly performed by the Munda community. 

8. Political Guru of Subhas Chandra Bose

Chittaranjan Das (C.R. Das), popularly called Deshbandhu, was the political guru of Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He was a leading figure in Bengal during the Non-Cooperation Movement of 1919–1922.

Q:   Which section of the SSC GD question paper is lengthiest?
A:

In the SSC GD Constable exam, the questions are asked from four sections- General Knowledge and General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, English/Hindi and General Intelligence and Reasoning. Each section contains 20 questions. There is equal distribution of questions in each section of SSC GD question paper. However, it depends upon each candidate which section of the SSC GD exam paper they find lengthy based on the difficulty level of the questions.

9. Writ Petition under which Article

 The writ petitions are issued by the Supreme Court under Article 32 of the Indian Constitution. The writ is issued by the High Court under Article 226 of the Indian Constitution. 

10. Water transport in plants

Water is transported in plants through Xylem. The xylem is a special tissue that transports water, minerals, and nutrients from soil to the leaves of the plants. On the other hand, Phloem transports the food from leaves to the rest of the plant.

11. Smart Cities Mission

It was launched on June 25, 2015, by PM Narendra Modi. Under this scheme, a total of 100 cities have been identified to be developed as Smart Cities.

1. Where is Harappan located?

It is located on the left bank of the Ravi River, a tributary of the Indus River.

2. Kathak Dance Form

It is a classical dance form that originated in Uttar Pradesh. Kathak word is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Katha’ that means story. Kathak performers showcase stories through their graceful hand movements, footwork, body movements and facial expressions.

3. FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023

It was held in Indonesia from November 10 to December 2, 2023. Germany won its first title at the 2023 tournament. 

4. Rukmini Devi Arundale associated with which dance form

It is associated with the Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam. She was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1956.

5. Fundamental Duties

The Fundamental Duties come under Article 51A under Part-IV A of the Indian Constitution. The 42nd Amendment Act, 1976 added 10 Fundamental Duties to the Indian Constitution and later the 86th Amendment Act, 2002 added the 11th Fundamental Duty.

6. Transition of Gas to Solid

The gas changes into a solid without passing through the liquid phase through Deposition. On the other hand, Sublimation is a process wherein a solid is changed to a gas without passing through the liquid state.

7. Maharashtra’s Udyog Ratna Award 2023

Eminent industrialist Ratan Tata was awarded with the first ever Udyog Ratna Award of the Maharashtra government in August 2023. The Udyog Ratna Award comprises a shawl, a citation and a memento from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

8. Sridharavarman

He was a Saka ruler of Central India around the areas of Vidisa, Sanchi and Eran in the 4th century CE, just before the Gupta Empire expansion. He calls himself King in an inscription at Eran

9. Anjum Chopra

He is an Indian cricket commentator. Anjum Chopra is both a Test and One Day International cricketer who made her One Day International debut against New Zealand at Christchurch in 1995. 

10. Simon Commission

It was constituted by Sir John Simon in 1927 to report on the working of the Indian constitution established by the Government of India Act, 1919. The Simon Commission was opposed in India as there was no Indian representative. 

11. Gandhi-Irwin Pact

It was a political agreement signed between Mahatma Gandhi and the then British Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin on March 5, 1931. The pact resulted in Gandhi promising to discontinue the Satyagraha Movement and Irwin promising to release Indians or Satyagrahis arrested for salt production.

12. Planning Commission

It was established in 1950 by Jawaharlal Nehru to formulate India's Five-Year Plans. In 2014, PM Narendra Modi decided to dissolve the Planning Commission. It was replaced by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), which was set up on January 1, 2015.

SSC GD Question Paper 2024 (February 21)

1: Arjuna Award 2023

A total of 26 athletes were honoured with the Arjuna Award 2023 by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. Bowler Mohammed Shami, wrestler Antim Panghal, archers Ojas Pravin Deotale, Sheetal Devi, and Aditi Gopichand Swami were among the awardees.

2: Gir National Park

Gir National Park is a wildlife sanctuary located in Gujarat. It was established for the protection of Asiatic lions along with leopards, antelopes, vultures, pythons, marsh crocodiles and birds.

3: Fundamental Rights of India

Articles 12-35 of the Indian Constitution deal with Fundamental Rights. These rights are the Right to Equality (Articles 14-18), the Right to Freedom (Articles 19-22), the Right against Exploitation (Articles 23-24), the Right to Freedom of Religion (Articles 25-28), Cultural and Educational Rights (Article 29-30) and Right to Constitutional Remedies (Article 32).

4: Capital of Maharashtra

Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra. Mumbai is famously known as the financial, commercial, and entertainment capital of India. 

5: Governor of Uttar Pradesh

Anandiben Mafatbhai Patel is serving as the 20th and current Governor of Uttar Pradesh.

6: Finance Commission of India

The Finance Commission of India is constituted by the President of India under Article 280 of the Indian Constitution. The Commission is constituted periodically after every 5 years to define the financial relations between the Central Government and the State Governments. The First Finance Commission was established in 1951.

7: Article 16

Article 16 of the Indian Constitution falls under the Fundamental Rights. It states that there shall be right to equal opportunities for all citizens to get employment or appointment in Government or Public offices.

8: Hardhavardhana belonged to which Dynasty

Harshvardhana belonged to the Vardhan Dynasty, also known as the Pushyabhuti Dynasty. The dynasty reached its zenith under its last ruler Harshavardhana and covered major part of north and north-western India, extending to Kamarupa in the east and Narmada River in the south.

9: PM Jan Dhan Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) was launched on August 28, 2014 by PM Narendra Modi. PM Jan-Dhan Yojana is a National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services affordably.

10: Uniform Civil Code (UCC)

The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) states one country one rule. It is mentioned in Part 4, Article 44 of the Indian Constitution. Article 44 states that uniform laws will be framed and implemented throughout India. These laws apply to all citizens equally regardless of their religion, gender and sexual orientation. 

11: Duleep Trophy

The Duleep Trophy is a domestic cricket tournament played between teams representing different geographical zones of India such as East Zone, South Zone, etc. It is named after Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji.

12: Bismillah Khan

Ustad Bismillah Khan, often referred to by the title Ustad, was a Shehnai player and was credited with popularising the shehnai.

13: Sarojini Naidu as President of INC

Sarojini Naidu was the first Indian female to serve as the President of the Indian National Congress (INC) in 1925. Naidu was a founding member of the All India Women's Conference in 1927.

14: Losar Festival

The Losar Festival, also known as Tibetan New Year, is celebrated in Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal and India. In India, Losar is a popular festival of Arunachal Pradesh.

15: Lavani Dance Form

Lavani is a traditional dance form of Maharashtra. It is a combination of traditional song and dance performed to the beats of Dholki.

16: Lowest Female Literacy Rate in India

Rajasthan has the lowest female literacy rate in India at 57.6%. Other states with low female literacy rates are Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. 

17: Article 20

Article 20 of the Indian Constitution protects people from being convicted of offences.

SSC GD 20 Feb Question Paper 2024

1. First Female Chairman of Indian Railway Board

The Cabinet Appointments Committee appointed Jaya Varma Sinha as the Chairperson and CEO of the Railway Board. She is the first female to be appointed to the apex post of Indian Railways.

2. Santiniketan in UNESCO World Heritage Site

Santiniketan, founded by Rabindranath Tagore, was officially recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023. Santiniketan is located in West Bengal. It is the 41st in India and the fifth in Bengal to make it to the World Heritage Site list.

3. Article 24 of the Indian Constitution

It prohibits the employment of children below the age of 14 in any factory, industry or mines.

4. Article 34 of the Indian Constitution

It imposes restrictions on fundamental rights while martial law is in force in any area of India.

5. Second Battle of Panipat

It took place on November 5, 1556. The battle was fought between forces of Hindu King Hemu and the army of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The battle was won by Akbar's generals Khan Zaman I and Bairam Khan.

6. Mohiniyattam Dance form

It is an Indian classical dance form which originates from the state of Kerala. 

7. Bhakra Nangal Project

It is the Asia’s second tallest dam which is located on the borders of Punjab & Himachal Pradesh. The Bhakra Nangal dam is built on the Sutlej River in Himachal Pradesh and Bhakra Village near Bilaspur. This dam makes the Gobind Sagar reservoir.

8. 10th Guru of Sikh

Guru Gobind Singh was the 10th Guru of Sikh and also the last of Sikh Gurus. Just before his death in in 1708, he declared Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh scripture, as the future guru. He was the son of Guru Tegh Bahadur and introduced the Khalsa and the 'five Ks'.

9. Battle of Buxar

It was fought between the British East India Company and an alliance of Indian states on October 22 and 23, 1764. The battle marked the beginning of British rule in India.

10. Agneepath Yojana

It was announced on June 16, 2022. Under this scheme, soldiers below the rank of commissioned officers are recruited in the three armed forces- Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy as 'Agniveer’.

11. Chairman of Niti Aayog

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the present Chairman of Niti Aayog. The seating Prime Minister of India is the Chairman of Niti Aayog.

12. Hampi

It is located in the state of Karnataka, India. It was once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich cultural heritage and stunning architectural ruins.

13. Oldest dance form in India

Bharatanatyam.

14. Odissi dance form

It is a classical India dance from the state of Odisha. It is considered a dance of love that touches on the human and the divine aspects of life.

15. First Battle of Tarain

It was fought in 1191 wherein Prithviraj Chauhan won against Muhammad Ghori.

16. Vector Quantity

It is a quantity that has magnitude and direction. Examples of vector quantities are displacement, force, acceleration, momentum, weight, current, the velocity of light, a gravitational field, etc.

17. Which Article related to High Court

Articles 214 to 231 of the Indian Constitution talk about the High Court, their organisation and powers. Article 214 calls for the constitution of the High Court in each State.

18. 86th Amendment of Indian Constitution

It added that the state will provide free and compulsory education to all children between six to 14 years of age. This amendment added the provision of Fundamental Right of a child to free and compulsory education.

19. First Sahitya Akademi Award 

Pandit Makhanlal Chaturvedi received the first Sahitya Akademi Award in 1955 for his work Him Tarangini in Hindi.

20. World Press Freedom Index

India ranked 161st among the 180 countries with a score of 36.62. The index was published by Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Answered a month ago

The SSC GD Constable DV/ DME 2025 dates have not been announced yet. However, it is expected that the SSC GD medical exam will start in November 2025. The CRPF will soon announce the dates for the Constable DME exam after the declaration of PET/ PST result.
