Admission Process Through CUET-UG at HNBGU
Since the introduction of CUET-UG, HNBGU has aligned its undergraduate admission process with the national testing framework administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Here is how the process works, based on the university's official admission circulars:
Step 1: Appear for CUET-UG. Candidates first need to register and appear in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG), conducted by NTA, through the official CUET website. This is a prerequisite for admission to UG programs at HNBGU as there’e no entrance exam for UG programs.
Step 2: Register on the HNBGU SAMARTH Admission Portal. Once CUET-UG results are declared, eligible candidates wishing to seek admission to HNBGU's undergraduate programs (offered both at the university campuses and its affiliated colleges/institutes) must register separately on the university's dedicated SAMARTH admission portal. For the 2026-27 academic session, this registration window was open from 12 July 2026 (1:00 PM) to 21 July 2026 (11:55 PM). There are two separate registration links - one for candidates seeking admission to a University Campus program, and another for those applying to an Affiliated College or Institute.
Step 3: Fill the online application carefully. Candidates need to fill in the online application form on the SAMARTH portal with accuracy, upload all required documents within the stipulated time, and pay the prescribed registration fee. Before applying to a program at any affiliated college, applicants are specifically advised to check that college's own website or contact its office to confirm the program's availability and eligibility criteria, since not every affiliated institute offers every course.
Step 4: Merit list preparation and counseling. Once registration closes, HNBGU prepares merit lists for its various UG programs based on the normalized (NTA) score obtained by candidates in CUET-UG, per each program's specific eligibility and subject-combination criteria. Shortlisted candidates are then called for counseling which, depending on the program, may be conducted online or through physical/offline reporting at the concerned campus or department.
Step 5: Document verification and fee payment. At the counseling stage, candidates must produce original and self-attested photocopies of key documents - Aadhaar ID, Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, the CUET-UG scorecard, category certificates (OBC-NCL/SC/ST/EWS/PwD, as applicable), NCC/NSS certificates if any, a Transfer Certificate, Character Certificate, and an Anti-Ragging undertaking, among others. Only after successful document verification and payment of tuition and other fees is the seat confirmed; admissions remain strictly provisional until this verification is complete.
Step 6: Subsequent rounds counselling is conducted if seats remain vacant after the first round of counseling, candidates who did not clear the cut-off in the earlier round may still be considered in subsequent rounds, according to seat availability.
Throughout this process, candidates are strongly advised to regularly check both the university website and the SAMARTH portal, since schedules, reporting dates, and any additional instructions are updated there.
Past-Year CUET Cut-offs at HNBGU
The university does not publish cut-offs for every UG course. For few programs, cut-off scores are here category-wise for its B.Tech programs for the 2025-26 admission cycle, based on the CUET UG 2025 normalized score:

"All" indicates that every candidate who applied and met the basic eligibility criteria in that category was offered a seat, since the number of applicants did not exceed the number of available seats. This score is computed based on the candidate's marks in the CUET-UG subjects relevant to B.Tech admission - Physics, Mathematics, and one of Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/Biology/Informatics Practices/Biotechnology.
For other UG programs such as B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Ed., LL.B., BHM&CT, and the various arts and humanities courses - cut-offs are announced separately as each program's counseling and merit list is released, generally soon after CUET-UG results are declared and the SAMARTH registration window closes. Prospective applicants should track the "Counseling Information/Merit List" page on the university website closely during the admission season, as this is where department-wise and category-wise merit lists and cut-offs are uploaded as they become available for the given academic session.
